Calling all Westcoast Board members.

Hello all my Fellow Board Members.

I am here in So cal area and I know there is a lot of us that are from out here on the west coast and we all need to start a meeting spot if not once a month at least once every few months. I see a lot of the central and east coast Member Joining up to see there Rides and there trucks that are under construction and I think it would be a good thing for all of us out here to get together and meet each other. Not only will it make the Board Stronger but it will also give everyone a chance to Check out each others Rides and meet the great people who are into the same things we are. I know most of our family's would like a day out also after all all the work we put into these trucks should be seen.

What do you all say. Pick a spot or place to all meet up and enjoy a day.
Leave your feed back.

Re: Calling all Westcoast Board members.

Sounds like a plan, I'm in san diego county but would travel as far as L.A. area if we could get enough people to make it an event... I know Brothers Truck Parts in Corona does an all Chevy truck event some time in june or july as well...

Currently swapping in a 400sbc but should be roadworthy by spring...

Re: Calling all Westcoast Board members.

I could make it if it was close enough to me. No overdrive, 3.73 rear and 28" tall tires makes the freeway kind of tough! But a get together is a great idea!

Probably 50 miles would be max, at least for me - but I would be game.

Re: Calling all Westcoast Board members.

Hi All, down here in San Diego. I'm cool with meeting up anywhere in the so cal region - as long as it's on a weekend. Heard that Ricky and Ronnie's in Torrance is a cool place to rally up - http://rickyandronnies.com/

Re: Calling all Westcoast Board members.

So far the formula for one of these meets seems to be simplicity.Keep it simple and fun. Here in NC/TN we usually either have a cookout(burgers and dogs) or we meet somewhere to eat(the South is all about food lots of it and all of it fattening)I know many Ca. folk are into healthy so you may want to take that into consideration. You also need to figure out a "Parking Lot Mod" where you do an upgrade to one of the members rides. It needs to be simple enough to do in a short time and you need to be sure to have all the tools and parts to accoplish it.There is a BB requirement for a meet.Someone(preferably several someones) needs to bring a camera and post pics to prove you really did get together.I have seen bumper replacements, rearend centering, brake booster adjustment, window felt replacement, and wiper and radio antenna replacements done at meets.Plan a full day or at least 3-4 hours.A place with a solid parking area(not gravel or dirt, which turns to mud) is prefered since if your luck is like mine, it will rain(Don't let that spoil the fun,it will become a part of it).Parks are usually a good site since it's more family friendly if the kids and wives have something to do.If you have any questions about how to deal with something just ask,Most of the Tn guys have done enough hosting of meets that they can help with whatever things you may need to know.Keep us posted and take pics cause if you don't have pics it ain't documented and if it ain't documented it didn't happen.
BTW Take the oppourtunity to join CGITC and have a membership drive at the meet.Just check the Forum for more and better info.

It would probably be easier for us "ugly ones" on the freeway, what beemer or volvo with a pretty paint job would think of crowding our lane.

Re: Calling all Westcoast Board members.

Any and all trucks can get in on this. Also if you have a trailer queen they can come to or if its a work in progress that is being documented in the board and your posting pic of your build it would be nice to see them also. I think if we could all meet at a nice Park and do like a pot luck kinda thing it would be great. Then everyone who wanted to come can get involved.

Re: Calling all Westcoast Board members.

Last weekend we drove 6 hours to Disneyland for a two day visit. I wanted to seek over the Pomona for the swap meet, but I got that look from the wife.

I wouldn't mind meeting up once and a while, especially if it was a weekend there was a swap meet at Pomona.

Re: Calling all Westcoast Board members.

I got more ugly here in Carlsbad. A limey brit recently told me it looks like my truck is growing hair, the cab has so much rust.
Other than a cab swap, anybody ever tried repairing drip rail rusting??
I think it'll look good as a convertible.

Re: Calling all Westcoast Board members.

Anyway, count me in. I did spend a hundred bucks on it once for a new bumper in front.Maybe I'll throw a little wax on that puppy and hob-knob with all us West Coast restorers.

Careful,put on your shades for this pic;

Re: Calling all Westcoast Board members.

I spent a hunnert on a new bumper too, the rear bumper.
It's still in packaging in my garage if you want to see a pic!
I need a set of rear brackets to get it on....got any?

I see a lot of nice old trucks in the San Diego North County area. Should be enough guys around for a breakfast meet?

Lemme know.

Re: Calling all Westcoast Board members.

Make the meeting point in Seattle and I'll be there.

The problem is the west coast covers a lot of space. We've organized a few Pacific Northwest meets up in the Seattle area and I believe the Portland area members have done the same down that way, but SoCal is a long, long drive from Seattle.
