Hood hits cowl when opening. How to fix?

I have pushed the cowl as far toward the windshield as it wil go. I have the hood as far forward on the hinges as it will go. The gap between the cowl and the hood when shut is about a half inch which is too big. That is the only way I can get it to not hit when I open it. As I open the hood the rear of it goes down toward the cowl before it pulls away to open. Would this be a product of worn hinges or is there another way to adjust the hinges to eliminate this? My hood shuts perfectly and is aligned all the way around and the back stays down when you shut it unlike some people I have heard say that their hood is high in the back after its shut.

Your hinges are probably tweaked, and the springs are weak. There are other posts on here about adjusting the hood, weak springs, etc.

If you buy new hinges make sure they are GM.If you get the aftermarket they may be as bad as the ones you have.Everyone I have talked to say the aftermarket ones are junk!
