I would like to do a patina 67 one day , I already have a theme , they used to be a service station here on my hollow it was an ESSO station , it was called "LYNN CAMP SERVICE CENTER" I have an old reciept where my dad got some stuff there in 1969 it has the phone number and some other info , I may try to build another truck ,

I started a thread about that blue one on the Dark Side when it was on Ebay.

Re: finished patina 67's pic's let's see some !
Here's mine, for what it's worth - I'm gonna see if I can get the patina a little better, if that's possible. I think there's a method to it, but I have to figure it out - it's gonna involve buffing the paint that's there and rubbing down the rust spots, I think. The problem with a patina is that is a moving target - it will evolve on you as time goes on.

I keep going back and forth, but I think you're right, it will get paint. I love that truck too.

Re: finished patina 67's pic's let's see some !
The popularity of patina’s has me rethinking the idea of painting my old $300 beater truck. The problem is my natural patina looks more like a POS. Maybe it is the original orange with a white top resurfacing that spoils the patina theme. The ugly white spoke wheels don’t help much either.
Funny story about this truck…my buddy who is a physical therapist for a school district in Phoenix flew up to CO from AZ over Christmas break and needed something to drive with an automatic transmission and easily accessible to get in and out of as well as adapt his hand controls into (he is in a wheelchair). The ole “Mexican” (as we call it…inspired by the movie "The Mexican") was perfect as all my other spare vehicles have manual transmissions and the hand controls are easy to adapt to the old GM pedal assemblies. Anyway, as he was cruising the beater around for the week he stopped for gas New Years Day and an older gentleman fueling up on the other side of the island walked up to him and handed him a $100 bill and said Happy New Year! My buddy felt like the guy felt sorry for him being in a wheel chair and driving such a rotten old truck. He tried to give the guy the money back and kept telling him he was not in need of a hand out but the drunk old guy insisted that he take the money. My buddy who can do more living life wheeling around in his chair than I can do on my feet didn’t take total offense to the situation as he has received a ton of different public responses to his ability (not disability) over the years so he took the money as it probably made the old guy feel like he did such a good deed for a person in need. My buddy is hardly needy….just a normal guy that has wheels instead of shoes. What sucks is nobody has ever offered me jack chit when I roll up to the gas pump in this POS patina. And, yes…. Bill returned the “Mexican” with a full tank of gas and donated the money into some school fund raiser when he got back to Phoenix. Some old drunk in Pueblo thinks he helped a down and out guy in wheel chair driving a rotten old truck when in fact a school in Phoenix benefited. So, the moral of the story is....patina's can be profitable.....for someone

In another 30, 40 years, those are going to be perfect...

<opinion>
patina trucks only look right (to me) when they have some sort of signage/lettering on them. otherwise....they just look like another old beater truck. </opinion>
