? about motor mounts

I am going to replace my existing 350 with a new 350 and need to replace the motor mounts. My question is do i get the early style "short and wide" motor mount that measures 2 5/8 in. between the ears and 1 3/4 in. tall to the center of the through bolt hole, or the "tall and narrow" motor mount that measures 2 3/8 in. between the ears and 2 3/16 in. tall to the center of the through bolt hole. Is one for a car and one for a truck or ? Thanks.

the one with the bolt up through, is the early style. In 72 there was a recall due to those mounts breaking.
I think in 73 they went to the clamshell mounts, which bolts them together laterally.
The later ones are much better in every aspect, but I am not sure what it would take to put them in your truck... I'd imagine later model engine towers would do the trick.
Myself, if your old ones are good, I'd swap them to the new engine.

I went with these mounts. Of course I didn't get the chrome ones, so they were cheaper. Fit great.....

Were they a direct bolt in or did you have to do some fabricating? What motor mounts did you use?

harrdawg54 if you go for the ones longhornman is talking about make sure that the 3/8s bolt will fit in the mount. I ran 3 parts stores out of these because the company that made them tapped the hole for metric instead of 3/8.

will the clamshell ones fit with ram's horn manifolds? I know with the later style bottom log type manifolds you have to have the clamshell mounts.

I don't have to worry about ram horns or anything like that, I have headers on the new motor. These are the mounts that I am thinking of using.
The are Energy Suspension part number ENS-3-1120G and it includes both motor mounts and also the trans mount.

Yes, they were a direct bolt on. No mods and they came with the standard OEM rubber mounts and hardware. You also get more clearance around the frame with these. IMO, money well spent, (but not for the chrome ones).

no i wouldnt think so , i did the same bout a year ago on both trucks i owned at the time a 67 and a 70 , i no longer own the 70, and they (napa mounts) are holding up well on the 67 and i beat the crap outa the truck , hard lanching and banging gears

I just started a thread on this, 80 bucks?, that's pretty steep. Isn't there a mid priced set? Somewhere in the 30 buck range that would rust?

I'm almost ready to drop my motor back in as well and I need new Motor and tranny mounts. I am seeing a huge difference in prices, from the $90 summit sets above to about $30 I think for stock replacement from LMC or some others. Are the summit ones worth the extra cash? whats the difference? is it just rubber vs polyurethane bushings?

cant help ya , i have never ran anything with the poly mounts
i just go to napa and get reg motor mounts and trans mounts.
but i do have a set of poly mounts for the 71 monty but its a long long ways away from getting a motor

poly mounts transfer a huge amt of vibration to the frame and body they're not all that great for a daily driver i had them once and chucked them in the garbage in less than 3months cause i couldnt see in my mirrors cause the truck was vibratin so bad a waste of money for me

Poly mounts are a middle ground between stock rubber mounts and solid mounts. They're a performance add-on for hot trucks...not a good choice for street driving.

I agree X 2 on the poly mounts. Great for a strip/street vehicle or a truck doing heavy towing, but new stock mounts are fine for a driver.

I've also used CarQuest.
Just told 'em, "'69 1/2 T, 350."
Installed without any problems.

Hi i am new here,I have a 69 chevy frame that is 2 wheel drive, and had a 6 cyl. engine with 4 speed. I am putting in a 350 v-8 with a tubo 400 auto. I have my engine and tranny in, not sure if i am using wright mounts. The right side is bolted in ,the left side is off. ? also dose anyone know if i am in the wright holes?

You might want to look at starting another thread instead of threadjacking an old one... you'll get more ppl looking, and more answers.
Persnoally i have never had an issue with these old style mounts, but it seems a lot of people have, there was actually a thread about getting them to line up a couple days ago. I would say loosen it all up, and tsab it, then tighten it all down.
As for location, yes, that looks correct if i'm not mistaken.
