does anyone know to install a underdash a/c unit ? i just bought one on ebay
the other day . it's only the unit i believe i stillneed the condenser, the compressor, ect.. any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Without knowing the brand of unit it may end up being a bit difficult to piece it all together. I'm sure it could be done.....It just might take a lil time. I bought Vintage Air Surefit systems for both of my trucks.

A few pics might be helpful. I just got thru installing a mini-fridge kit in mine. It's behind the dash, but we've got a bud who just put an under dash system in too. He watches this board as well. Does your unit have heat too?

If all you have is the inside portion, you'll need a condensor coil, compressor, brackets, hoses, reciever-or-accumulator w/binary/trinary switch, and heater bypass valve (if your's has heat too). All that and you should be good to go.

thanks for that thread. that's a very cool setup from vintage air. i still have a ways to go before i get to that point. oh well you gotta start somewhere.

tell me this . will i have to change the location of my compressor if i still have it on the same brackets that come on the 94 camaro with the lt1 serpentine pulleys? i mean everything is setup just like the 94-97 camaro.

I'm not sure where the comps. are in those cars, but as long as there are no clearance issues otherwise, you should be able to leave it where it's at. Mine is on the top driver's side. The opposite side that is original to these trucks. I had to get a little creative on routing them to the passenger side firewall, where my evaporator is. But it wasn't anything money couldn't fix ($60 for two built hoses). But I ran mine thru the core support, across under the radiator, then back thru the core support, up and over the pass. inner fender, and finally through the firewall. All that so they wouldn't cross over the motor.

So anything's possible, if you really want it.

my comp. is on the bottom on the passenger side of the motor. as soon as i get the pictures i'll post them to give you a better idea of what i'm talking about.

Is this bolted to where the fuel pump would be? I know that alan grove as a compressor braket that does this, but I really want to see how it would work first.
