700r4 update

Hey Guys,
Well, I've made some progress in getting the tranny ready to go in the truck. I got my servo cover drilled and tapped for the pressure switch. Now I'm working on the speedometer gears. Forgive me if i get the names of these two gears mixed up. I got the (driven gear) in place with no problems, but the (drive gear) is another story. I don't know how to take the old one off the shaft. I could use some help. How does the one on the shaft in the pics come off? Thanks guys I'll post more update pics soon.
Tim

Re: 700r4 update

Now, I find it hard to believe that none of you guys have ever had to remove this ring. I'm thinking some kind of puller might work, but it sure would be nice to hear from someone who has done it.
Thanks,
Tim

Re: 700r4 update

Yeap, a puller is what I used back in high-school when we use to overhaul trannys.

I just picked an 700R4 for the Chief...it came out of an 89 IROC Camaro.

Can't wait to throw it in...although it won't be for a while.

Later

John
