Topless 67 to 72 pickups??
Who had done it?
I ask because my truck is just on the verge of being worth putting any real money into. As usuall here in Florida the salt and weather have eaten it alive, especially the front roof. Yea, I could drop it off at a body shop or put 20 pounds of welding wire in it or get a cab from out west. But this is a real low buck project. Iam going to fix it up on the cheap with some metal repair and some dynaglass and let it ride for a while. I have already cut alot of the rust out and used POR 15 to seal it up some. But in the end I know that front cab is going to have to go. I love converts and a open top roadster truck would be neat. In my opinion. Laid, not quite to the frame and a open top would be cool for a driver that would have some fun appeal to it. So, any pics out there? I saw the suburban and thought it was pretty cool. |

Re: Topless 67 to 72 pickups??
Somewhere in a box in a closet I have a photo of a drop-top '70 from Jonesboro Arkansas. This is from back in 1991. It was extremely yellow, so I had to snap a shot with a Kodac 'disk' camera (remember those)? The film looked like the disk for a kid's View Finder toy.
Anyway, I have seen one. Fairly cool.

There is a couple folks building, or were building topless trucks, I just can't remember which members were doing it.

Re: Topless 67 to 72 pickups??
If the cab is that bad just take a sawzall and hack the top off. I did it to my 69 short step back in 1996 i think. Get a better cab later.
Took me 20 minutes. NO I AM NOT KIDDING. Drove it for 3 years like that before i dissasembled the truck. I have a picture. But no scanner.

I agree, cut it off and drive it for awhile.
As you drive it, search for a blazer windshield frame and a blazer factory half top. When time and $$ allow, build your own convert. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=267192 |

Re: Topless 67 to 72 pickups??
I've thought about that myself, i'd like to do it with a stepside, and cut the bed down to about 5.5 ' as well. I would want to make a street rod style carson top for it though
But alas, time and money are 2 things i dont have enough of -- so this will never happen
