tires for 66 c10?
this may have been discussed somewhere, but i didnt look through all threads. i have a 1966 c10 shortbox fleetside big window that i bought about three years ago. it came with 205/70/r15 on front which i now need to replace, & 235/75/r15 on rear. as far as i know the front & rear are original with 6 bolt pattern. im not planning on dropping front in near future, but i dont like the wide gap between top of front tires & wheel well opening. i also have old style chrome rims with baby moons that i probably should replace also. any suggestions on wheels & tires that would close the gap in the front?

Re: tires for 66 c10?
There are so many tire and wheel options available, that it is purely your decision on what size wheel/tire combination you use. You can go with a larger wheel diameter and larger tire sidewall or a combination of both, depending on the look you want.
Many tire stores have a computer program that will allow you to adjust the stance, wheel and tire combination, to see what look you like. You might also try online for the same service. Someone will surely post a link to this website, to allow you to do so. In any case, good luck in your choice and welcome aboard from Kansas City, KS. Looking forward to seeing your rig posted on the site. |

Yes I had the same 205,s on the front. Had a big gap so I tried a rear 235 on the front and it looked far better. So I switched to 235's all around and it looks better with a smaller gap. Would like to lower it some more though in the future.Phil.

Re: tires for 66 c10?
On one of my '65 Chevy C10 trucks I have P275/75R15 tires on 15" x 8" Chevy Rally truck rims. There is a 4" gap between the top of the tire and the bottom of the front fender lip. With a 16" rim and/or a taller sidewall, this gap will drop accordingly.

First and foremost, welcome to the forum from Kansas City, KS. Secondly, your rig is one of the finest stock stance rides I have seen in quite some time. You have a real looker. I also have P275/75R15 on my '65 Chevy C10 lwb fleet, as well as on my '64 Chevy C10 lwb fleet. They are not as flashy or desireable as the swb fleet trucks, but I prefer the stock stance. I think it is ageless and will never die. |

Re: tires for 66 c10?
im running 255/70-15 on the fronts and 285/70-15 on the rear.both are on 8" rally wheels. they filled up the fender well in front with out rubbing and they still dont rub with a 3" spring and 2.5 spindel drop. you have alot of room to work with, with these trucks. also did disk brake conversion and was able to find matching gm ralley wheels for 5 lug and 6 lug. fyi

Re: tires for 66 c10?
TR:
Thanks for the kind "attaboy". We are about two weeks from completing the frame-off rebuild on my friend Lee's '66 Chevy K10 lwb fleet. With the exception of Rally truck wheels/caps and red oak in the bed, it will be original, down to the clips, fasteners, radio, in-dash speaker, etc. I started a topic and will be updating with some new photos of our progress over the past few weeks. Two thumbs up for the different styles and tastes of those who post here, but I found my place with the stock stance appearance. Last edited by LILRED66; 03-22-2008 at 07:31 AM. |

Re: tires for 66 c10?
Here is mine fully loaded with 32 x 11.5 BFGoodrich All-Terrainl T/A tires on 15x10 wagon wheels front and rear. It does not rub unless its fully loaded and even then it is only on bumps. I really like the look of these tires. I would like to find something with more of a street tread though since I never take this off-road and its a 4x2. I might have to run Mickey Thompsons to get something this wide in street tread, but it fits under our trucks!
