my father 70cst wants to know if this is a deal
I found this on craigslist and so far i cant find anything bad about it..It looks like a good deal just wanted some feedback, he wants to make sure if would be a good purchase
http://dayton.craigslist.org/pts/620375653.html I have a automatic transmission that I bought in March 2007. I purchased the engine and tranny together from a 1991 S10 Blazer 2 wheel drive. I had the tranny rebuilt and installed in April 2007. This tranny has about 800 miles on it since the rebuild so it has alot of life still left in it and it was NEVER used to pull anything. I have now sold my Blazer but I thought I could use the tranny but now it just seem to be in the way so it has to go! You can contact me at 937-xxx-xxxx, leave a message if no answer I HAVE PICS IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEE THEM... REMEMBER!!! This is for a transmission ONLY!!! Thanks for looking...

Re: my father 70cst wants to know if this is a deal
I would think so, a good core for a rebuild should bring $100.00. But then I could be wrong, if I needed one I'd buy it.

Re: my father 70cst wants to know if this is a deal
Does not sound like a bad deal. Ask him for the receipt/papers of the shop he got it rebuilt at. Surely if it was rebuilt in April 2007, he'll have the receipt (depending on the shop, it may still be under warranty). If it checks out and you and your dad feel good about it - I say Go For It. Nice Find and Good Luck.

Re: my father 70cst wants to know if this is a deal
its pretty much the value of a core charge// even at less than a thousand miles if it wasnt adjusted right it could be burned weather it pulled anything or not

Re: my father 70cst wants to know if this is a deal
What is it that you're putting it into? Unless I'm missing something, it's a tranny out of a S-10, and unless you're putting it back into something small, it doesn't seem to be the appropriate tranny for our trucks anyways...

Re: my father 70cst wants to know if this is a deal
If a 700R4 is installed and the throttle linkage adjusted incorrectly, it will burn out in a matter of weeks under normal driving!! They are very line pressure sensative!!!!!! Unless you are getting some kind of guarantee, I would be leary. Talk to the rebuilder and ask them what they would want to "check it out"!!
Just as an fyi, if hooked behind a small blazer with a V6 like a 4.3, it is probably the exact same 700R4 used in small V8 applications. If the rebuilder did the normal upgrades and it works as designed, it is a great trans for our trucks as most old 350's don't put out about the same HP and Torque as the 90's vintage 4.3. So is it a bargin?? Maybe and maybe not. Get it checked out before you put up the $$$. |

Re: my father 70cst wants to know if this is a deal
In 91, they still had the 2.8 in the S-10 chassis, and that tranny will NOT bolt to anything but a 2.8 or 3.1. You need to be sure that tranny came off a 2.5 or 4.3.

Re: my father 70cst wants to know if this is a deal
I was going to say the same thing. Make sure its not off a 2.8. Otherwise you got a trans that wont bolt up.

Re: my father 70cst wants to know if this is a deal
I just spoke with Curt and as you all said...this will not directly bolt up plus it's Curt's opinion the rebuilt 400 is a more bullet proof tranny for the 402BB. Sooooooooo as the famous Howie says...No Deal!!

FYI guys, 2.5L s-10 motors share the same bell pattern as the 2.8. The only ones that will match the V8's and I6's are from a 4.3L S-10

Re: my father 70cst wants to know if this is a deal
nope, the 2.5 has the normal chevy bellhousing (even though it is a pontiac motor). This engine predates the 2.8/3.1 60 degree V6 engines.
