LS series motor mount options for 72 K10

Hey guys,

We are in the middle of installing a 6.0 in our 72 K10. We ordered a set of motor mount plates from Street and Performance (AKA Hotrodlane.com) and they will not work with our motor because we want to keep the AC. This motor came out of a 2003 Silverado SS and we are going to keep all the accessory drive as is. The plate hits the AC bracket on the passenger's side of the block.

To those that have installed LS series engines in 67-72 trucks, especially the 4WD models, what mounts/plates have you used? Will the CPP tubular supports work on the 4WD? What other options are there out there other than plates because the Trans-dapt plates look identical to the S&P parts?

Re: LS series motor mount options for 72 K10

Best thing to do is hit the long list of threads here. I have most of them linked on the first page of the thread linked in my signature.

I haven't seen a pair of mounts that will let you keep the A/C compressor and pipe it out without notching the frame in some way. Good luck.

(BTW - and I'm not nitpicking - but I think the term "LS-series" is fairly incorrect. They're either GenIII or GenIV Small Block Chevy engines. Many do not use "LS", there are many exceptions like the LM7, LQ4, LQ9, etc.)

Re: LS series motor mount options for 72 K10

Thanks for your help guys. You are right shifty, they are not all designated with an "LS" moniker. I was only referring to the architecture of the engine. Killer, I will try to contact 68 about the mounts.

Thanks!
