Where else for brake lines (other than LMC)?

Some of you might have seen a couple of my other posts where I'm trying to source out brake part for my 70' SWB that is sitting on a 69' frame with CPP dropped spindles that take 73+ front brakes - using master/prop valve, and rearend out of 72' donor truck.

Nevertheless, I had decided to just order an entire new line set for a 72', weld the line brackets onto the 69' cross-memeber, and then order custom length braided hoses for the front, because the stock 73+ hoses are a little too long.

Been having hell with LMC's website for the past ~3 hours, and once I finally got off of work decided to give them a call....now they are telling me that the 72' full line kit for SWB w/PWR is out of stock for the next 3 weeks!

in short, I'm done dealing with these clowns and their crappy website....do any of you guys have another recommendation as to where I might can buy the complete line set?

Thanks!
Jason

I keep forgetting about him - I'll check tomorrow. Also realized that inline tube may have them...seems I remember hearing that LMC's stuff used to be dropped shipped from them.

Re: Where else for brake lines (other than LMC)?

I doubt that was a complete prfabbed kit. Right?

I need a complete kit that is pre-bent, as I'm starting from scratch on this frame, so I don't have any old ones for them to match up.

Re: Where else for brake lines (other than LMC)?

They have a bunch of various sizes hanging in back pre made with both ends and ready to use. They have most sizes that fit right on there. If I needed a special size, my buddy would trim and double flare it as I'm not so skilled. But I bent everything to fit with a handheld bender. But the whole job to do it like that was cheap. I just did this whole job on my '48 Stylemaster,,, Oh yeah,,I reused the residual valve, proportioning valve, etc off an S-10.

Re: Where else for brake lines (other than LMC)?

I got mine from the local autoparts place. Its a small one so they usually can look up all of the different lengths in their books to figure out what one will work best.

Re: Where else for brake lines (other than LMC)?

I ordered mine from GMC Pauls ... full stainless ... the kit was drop shipped from Inline Tube and I was charged double for shipping.

Be careful.

P.S. Highly doubtful local parts stores have pre bent full kits for these 36-40 year old trucks ... heck, mine do good to have the right spark plugs and oil filters for mid 90's trucks.

Re: Where else for brake lines (other than LMC)?

If I'm right, your talking about the hard lines, right? I think everybody thinks you are talking about the hoses. I'm dealing with the same problem right now. LMC's paper catlog is great, but their website and customer service sucks, so I won't order from them. If you find a good place to order these from, let us know. Stainless lines would be a plus, too.

GMC Pauls. Service is second to none. Some people have had problems contacting them via phone, I can't confirm this, as I usually never call (I email), but I'll tell ya - Give them a shout.

Literally, Paul himself helped me to no end with getting my brakes figured out. Was super easy.

Thanks for the advice here Shane....just so I'm clear, are you saying it would be best to just order direct from Inline Tube, or best to give Paul a call?

Indeed Diesel - I'm speaking of the hard lines - and agreed, LMC's catalog is nice, but the website needs some help, and the girl I talked to on the phone was not only unhelpful, but kinda rude too. I got a real cheap vibe from that place (get what you pay for).

Re: Where else for brake lines (other than LMC)?

I've ordered two sets directly from inline tube, never had a problem. They take my info, answer my questions, and next thing I know I've got a big box on my porch in a day or two.

Re: Where else for brake lines (other than LMC)?

Thanks for all the replies here fellas! I tried both today, but ended up reaching Inline Tube first...the guy I spoke with was real helpful and knew exactly what I was talking about with some of the differences I'm dealing with in my setup....I ended up ordering a set of their braided hoses along with the full SS hard line kit.

I'll update on how it turns out once they arrive and I get some time to work on it.
