Motor Mounts truck-vs car
All of these posts about engine swaps and motor mounts made me go take a look at my setup. What I discovered was that it appears the PO modified the passenger side mount so the engine is shifted slightly to the driver side.
I'm not sure why he would do this? The only thing I could think of is that the 283 in my truck came from a passenegr car, so I was told. Is the engine side part of the mount different from a car -vs- a truck on an early 283? If it is shorter he may have bolted up the driver side then modified the passenger side to make it work. Any thoughts? |

Mine are the same way in the 'burb and I have not investigated it. Does you truck have a crossmember swap? I think mine does but looks so close I cant tell. My a-arms have the 73+ bushings.......

Re: Motor Mounts truck-vs car
it may have had a 292 I6 in it . a 292 uses a shorter and offset mount on that side.230-250 and 283 are all the same. just put in a frame tower from 1 of those 3 engs and it will be right

Re: Motor Mounts truck-vs car
I don't think the 6cyl mount is my problem. My truck has always had a 283 from what I was told.
I did a search awhile back and thought I read that there were 2 styles of early engine mounts. One was taller and narrower -vs- a shorter and wider style. Supposedly the 283 in my truck came from a car so maybe if this is a shorter mount a switch to the taller mount may fix my problem. I'm going to measure the mount as best I can today. I'll try and find that post again, it had the dimensions if I remember right. I'll post the info here if I find it. Thanks |
