Shaved Firewalls
Howdy again, got some more work done today which is good. Hoping someone can clear something up for me. All the smoothed firewalls in a lot of the pics posted look like the groove between the actual firewall and the cab have been filled in, cut out, or something. Do you just grind down / cut off the lip on the firewall side, fill in the channel with sheet metal, or what. Thanks as always in advance.

Re: Shaved Firewalls
For my firewall Kevin, welded on strips of sheet metal to cover the channel. I believe that is what most people do.

Re: Shaved Firewalls
We did mine by capping it with a thin strip of sheet metal.

Re: Shaved Firewalls
I'll be using a vintage air system.

Re: Shaved Firewalls
My bodyman trimmed the channel off with a cut-off tool, tacked the seam back together where he had cut it off and filled in the passenger side to "match" the driver's. I think it turned out great. Sorry I don't have any pics of the build process but here are a few of the finished product.
