*My new 62 short/fleet turd*Plus questions

Well, I sold the 66 short/fleet because it was in pcs. and I need a driver, with selling the house, moving, job hunting etc...

I had to give up all my air-ride stuff with it, but....

So I bought this 62.

It has a mid-80's center bolt head 350/auto.
A/C that works, that I'm removing

And a, what appears to be, Gm 10-bolt from a coil spring car with upper control arms. They cut those off, and welded the craddles for the truck trailing arms.
It's about 2" or so too narrow on each side, but I can put more rubber under it, with a positive offset wheel.

Awesome mirrors, that we already threw away..haha
Awesome diamondplate bedrail bars, that we already threw away...haha
Awesome 70's hubcaps...gone

We drove 177 miles to get it, said a wish and a prayer, and drove it home 177 miles, and made it!

I'm gonna mess with some stuff, get it alittle more comfy for me. Seat is a mid-late 70's bench. It fits across great, but is too tall. I like to be down in the truck. So the seat mounts are coming off, and I'll make some right on the floor.

A/C unit is coming out. Too big for my taste. But I'll keep the engine driven pump for future airride...

Now, for the question I need answered...What is this master cylinder? It leaks and I need to replace it. Any ideas???

Thanks

ok. I'll check that.

Also, is it ok to have a power boosted system with 4 corner drum brakes?

I mean, it drove ok. It pulls some to the right, but I think thats adjustment.

Re: *My new 62 short/fleet turd*Plus questions

IIRC they make aftermarket power boosters specifically for drum brakes so it should be fine. Body wise looks like the truck might be a little rough round the edges but a good start none the less.

Re: *My new 62 short/fleet turd*Plus questions

HaHa...
In Ohio that baby is a rock!!

it's actually better than it looks in pics.
There's a bunch of places the paint is just peeling off. But the floors, inner/outer rockers are great. cab corners are pretty good too.

Bottom of both front fenders need a patch, as well as bottom corners of both doors.

I can power wash most of the paint off, it's peeling that bad.

Looks great Grumpy
Agree the mirrors and bedrails look awful, but those caps with trim rings don't look too bad.

The underdash AC looks like a Mark V. If so, you should be able to do OK with in on ebay (don't forget, shipping won't be cheap, though it won't be horrible either.

Nice truck too
