New trim rings for the ol' 'Vette rallyes! pics

been eyeing the narrow ribbed trim rings for some time. at the swapmeet his weekend some "mysteriously" appeared. still going without caps (thanks Bobby "1loC10) but have always liked the thinner rings.

speaking of swapmeet, it was nice to see some other members. Nate (72BlkButy) and his fil with a NICE seat from Randy! Mike (72IronMike) thanks for the hard time with the buckets! Joe (Joesjunk) with ANOTHER beautiful tailgate for the wall! Very nice meeting you guys!

anyway, had the old girl out this afternoon and got a few pics with the rings mounted........... even gave the spare a beauty treatment.

That's just an all around cool truck. Wish I wasn't on call this weekend, looks like I missed a good show.

Man,... I wish I had something to trade you for your truck. How about a 5/6 dropped '91 S10 that gets 22 mpg? That first picture is my new wallpaper! Love it.

It wasn't exactly the nicest weather though. but quite a few hadcore motorheads (me included) was braving the 38 degree, 32 windchill, day! wish you would have made it, however there's another in Sept. you'll have to call in sick!!!

Re: New trim rings for the ol' 'Vette rallyes! pics

I need to find a set of the thinner late model rallye trim rings some time. Right now I need to get the tan off of them and shoot them back to silver at least.

Doug, what can I say, Keith really wants that truck! It was great to meet you, but next time the conditions had better be a little nicer! By the way, the new trim rings look good on the '69. Can't wait to get a closer look at it.

420am... I think Doug and I were over in the car corral when you picked up your bumper from 72ironmike. Sorry we missed you... but it looks like you got a good deal from Randy.

Needless to say it was a looong cold walk back to the truck, clear on the opposite side of the swap meet.

I knew it was gonna be a quick trip by the weather. Especially with the wife with me. Otherwise I would have tried to meet a few more board-folk. Maybe next time!

I am SO going to install a set of those on my rims. I always thought it was stupid my trim rings actually covered some of the rims! (The rings and caps came with my rims.)

Are those the 1-1/4" ones?

Those are what I put on mine from the git-go...along with the police caps.....and red powdercoat on the wheels. Now, I'm waiting on the black paint and flames to be done.

Yeah, it's the right thing to do.

Which do you have? Just flipping through Ebay and I see there's 1-1/4", 2", and the huge 3" ones I already have.

Maybe I can pick up a cheap set at Carlisle.

Doug every little thing you do to that truck just makes it better n better. I've often thought the wide trim rings sort of hide too much of the slots.

Re: New trim rings for the ol' 'Vette rallyes! pics

yep, I had police caps on there for a while but I sold them to 1loC-10 (thanks Bobby). here's my idea. while I was at the World of Wheels I seen several older rods running reverse steelies with a simple trim ring. however, they were running chrome coned lug nuts as well.

I'm kind of going of that vintage reverse steel rim look. simple and bare. if I had it to do over, I would get some original steelies, have them widened, and paint them the same color as the truck.....
