What to take from a 2007 Silverado 1500 5.3
I have a chance, hopefully, to get first shot at parts from a Silverado 1500 5.3 for a swap.
Beside the obvious items, motor, transmission, wiring harness, pcm, mounts, what else do you think I should try to get? I was thinking the inside cab wiring harness, gauge cluster, exhaust system, and heat/Ac switches. Is there something I’m missing or included that I don’t need? For example, what sensor should I make sure I get? It’s for a 72 Burb. I got the heating/Ac stuff for the fire wall back for a 72. I’ll need to get motor mounts from an aftermarket source. I’m not going to get the seats, seat belts or anything like that. Chances are that this won’t work out… just my luck……. but maybe this tread will be helpful to others besides me. |

I`d keep the`07 truck until everything is done on the Suburban.

The rear axle and disc brakes would be a good thing, well heck the entire brake assembly, front and rear and ABS, would be useful.

Is this an 07 classic or NBS? The NBS trucks have AFM, I guess you'd have to have that programmed out?

I`m just saying don`t scrap the donor until you have the reciepient running. The part you scrap will be the one you need.I don`t think anyone can just sit here and tell you exactly what you`ll need.

Re: What to take from a 2007 Silverado 1500 5.3
in all seriousness? i'll tell you what i tell everyone else: TAKE EVERYTHING YOU CAN.
it is one thousand times better to have leftover parts you don't use than to nickel and dime yoruself to death buying every little sensor, radiator hose, cable, etc. get the power steering hoses, get the fuse/relay box, get the wiring harness, get all of the peripherals lik A/C compressor and alternator and PS pump, belts, oil pan, bolts, sensors, hell, even the pedal assembly. anything that is in any way connected to that engine to supply water, fuel, fluids, electricity, take it. even take the relays and fuses. get everything you can - i thought i was getting a lot with all the peripherals, pedals, computer, harness, power steering lines, and rubber hoses....and then wound up spending another $600 or so buying parts at a junkyard. learn from my mistakes.

Re: What to take from a 2007 Silverado 1500 5.3
I echo Shifty, if you can store it, take it all. besides with that late model of truck, there are not any in boneyards yet. You can probably get premium price from an other '07 owner if they had a minor incident.

Re: What to take from a 2007 Silverado 1500 5.3
If you don't want the seats, send them my way!
Make sure you get the gas pedal and TAC module, those two things are easy to overlook. Also, get the ALDL from inside the cab. If you're going to be running disks in the back, you might want to think about taking the master cylinder/booster. Radiator and electric fans wouldn't be bad either. |
