Why do the call it Painless??????? HELP ME PLEASE
I hope that someone there can give me some help.
I have a rebuilt orginal tilt steering column that I bought from ECE. At the end of the turn signal switch wiring there is a cresent or half moon shapped connector. In the Painless manual says "The Wire Harness Kit has included two different female connectors to mate with the column-mounted plug" (manual # 10204 page 9 diagram 7.5 http://www.painlessperformance.com/I...ch/manuals.php ) These two female connectors are flat and there is no way they will connect with the half moon shaped connector on the column. I have attached a picture that kind of shows the connector on the column. Please help.

Re: Why do the call it Painless??????? HELP ME PLEASE
I know my kit (pt#10206 I believe) didn't come with that particular plug, but I understood that none of them did. That was 3 yrs ago though so it may have changed.
Do you still have the old harness kicking around? If so,you can salvage the plug and install it on your new harness. If not,I have one here that I'd give you.

Re: Why do the call it Painless??????? HELP ME PLEASE
I just picked up a new turn signal switch at NAPA and it came with a flat connector and an adapter cable that was a flat connector on one end and the curved stock connector on the other. It was pricey at $58, but would get you going...

I looked in the painless manual for 67-72 trucks and they indicate; The original steering column, 9 port, half moon, female plastic housing for the turn signals is no longer available from GM. We have terminated the wires for the turn signals with the correct terminals and color codes so that your original plastic housing, of the main harness, may be reused. To remove the old terminals from your plastic housing, insert a paper clip or an extra small screwdriver into the small slot at the top of the opening opposite of where the wire is inserted and this will release the tang holding the wire in place. Pull the wire and it should release from the housing.

Re: Why do the call it Painless??????? HELP ME PLEASE
Sorry it took a bit...I realize now that my garage needs a serious cleaning cuz it took me this long to get to the harness
I should mention that this is a '72 harness, and I'm not entirely sure that they are the same.If it's what you need then it's yours. here are the pics, let me know if you need a different angle or anything.

Re: Why do the call it Painless??????? HELP ME PLEASE
looks like the adapter is opposite of what you might need. You could connect the ends with what I have in the pic and make your own. This one went from a flat blade column to a curved truck harnass. You can have the two outside pieces for the price of shipping if you want, wire them and voila you have an apadter. Saves someone from cutting a harnass.

As for the ECE column it looks great, like brand new. I have not installed it yet. I did not want to have to many things in the way while I completed the wiring. I will try to work on the dash/gauges tonight and hopefully have everything for the interior wiring button up soon.

Re: Why do the call it Painless??????? HELP ME PLEASE
if you read carefully it tells you that you have to take the connectors out of your old half moon shaped steering column harness connetor... it's not to hard with a paper clip and small screwdriver... that's what i did on my painless harness... worked great...

Which makes sense to me because Painless only included one side of the flat connector. I unfortunately did not keep my OEM harness to salvage this an other connectors from. I'm glab that everyone is showing interest in this thread, because I hope it will help someone else out in the future.

Re: Why do the call it Painless??????? HELP ME PLEASE
You can also get the flat to curved connector adapter at most parts stores. Removing the wires from the connector is easy though. Just take your time. All of the wiring is the same for 67-72 on the harness. Unless you have an idiot light dash. There's an FAQ on GMCPauls website for converting from idiot light to guage dash. Jeff.

They make a special little tool, but I always just took a precision screwdriver (sanded down thinner if needed) and used that to press the little tab down.
