Fuel sender ohm question
I did search and confirmed that my '72 Blazer does need the 90 ohm sender. I had recently bought a 26 gal fuel cell (used) that has the 240 ohm sender. I know the gauge will not work with this as it would probably read half tank when its empty, right?? What are my options? Is there any way to "fix" the resistance of the sender? Or would it be better to just buy a new sender? I have never replaced a sender, is it just a matter of cutting the rod to length, and thats it? Thanks for any input.

Re: Fuel sender ohm question
I would contact the manufacturer of the cell and see if they have a 0-90 ohm sender. From the research I've done all the major suppliers (Jaz, RCI, Fuel-Safe, etc...) carry them. If you're running a carb and don't require an in-tank pump...the sender should be about 40 bucks.

Re: Fuel sender ohm question
OK, I have been doing some research in the past hour. I think I am going to replace the sender with this one.
It costs a little more then the "universal" ones (less then $75), but it looks like it might be a liitle more durable then the arm/float style. Thanks for the replies. |

Re: Fuel sender ohm question
That looks cool. Is it a 90 ohm? Looks like the tank level indicators we use on ships.

Re: Fuel sender ohm question
90 ohm, yes. They can make any ohm needed. These are probably used for all sorts of senders in many different applications. It looks like a well built unit, I will find out soon

Re: Fuel sender ohm question
A question came up...........
Does our gauges require 0 ohm full and 90 ohm empty, or is it the opposite? I can get the sender either way, just need to know the correct way for the '72 gauge. Thanks!! |
