Re: Driveshaft Length 700R4????

best advise and quicklest way to end up with only one driveshaft is to measure with a ruler or tape measure

Re: Driveshaft Length 700R4????

I just did this last week. you need to make sure that you have a 700r yoke that slides in the back of the trans and yes they are not all the same. slide it in all the way then pull it out 3/4 then measure from the center of where the u joint sets in the yoke to the center of where the u joint sets in at the rear end. then you got it. my drive shaft guy gave me this info.

Re: Driveshaft Length 700R4????

cheapest way is to measure your truck, pretty much any measurement from the end of the transmission tailshaft, burried slipyolk center, or properly placed slip yolk center. to the rearend center of u-joint. take in ANY parts that you think can be reused, tube end yolks, tranny yolk.

Re: Driveshaft Length 700R4????

I was going to recomend the same thing as I think there are 2 different locations the trans can end up if using the 6cyl mounts or the V8 mounts.

Re: Driveshaft Length 700R4????

On my setup, I'm using a 700r4 with a longer than stock tailshaft, I believe it's the longest of the three that can be used on this trans... my stock driveshaft ended up needing no modifications as a result.

My short stepside has a smallblock in the V8 position, and the driveshaft is a one piece unit from the 6 cyl/three on the tree that the truck originally came with..

Let me know if you need more info...

Re: Driveshaft Length 700R4????

You can use the TH350 yoke. Measure, measure, and measure again. Don't ask me how I know.
