Heater motor cable
What is the purpose of the cable that is attached to the heater motor switch?
I turned it on yesterday morning and I heard a pop and the lever moved really easily, but the switch still turned the motor on and off like normal.

Re: Heater motor cable
to open the vent. When you shut it off, the door cets closed. the first 1/2 of the range of motion on that switch is to open the vent door and just let air through the heater core if you just want a bit of air but don't need the blower.

Re: Heater motor cable
You have probably popped the lever. It was originally made of pot metal. The vendors will carry a kit to repair it.takes a couple of hours with time for repaint to dry to repair it.The kit uses steel levers so it will not happen again. You may want to remove the heater cables and clean them up in solvent or something, then lube them.I clamped one end in a vise and worked the outer sheath back and forth to loosen it up.Then I tossed them in an oil drain pan for a couple of days, with oil in it.It's been 6-7 years and they still work great.

Re: Heater motor cable
Ok, thanks guys. I figured the cable just popped off the lever, but it may be the lever, I haven't looked at it yet. Seems to be getting the same amount of heat as before.
