Thanks for the compliments . They really help me justify buying it back .

Anthony , I have just washed it , cleaned the interior ,removed a dash pad cover that they had applied with two sided tape , and installed the Rallys . The pics make the paint look better than it really is but it is still nice 30 year old paint . Frank

I love the rallies too! Are the beauty rings the deeper dish ones - they look pretty beefy. I have a set of rallies that are thrashed with crud. Do you have any suggestions for cleaning them up and cheaply painting them to hopefully get them to look like yours. Yours look like their new old stock or something. Rock on!

The Rally trim rings are the factory truck/suburban style that are rounded . Later Suburbans used the flat style ring . I bought the paint at Wal-Mart in the paint section . There were several colors but this is the silver color . It is spefically for wheels . It is best to apply light coats since it will puddle easy and show up as a spotty finish . As far as prep goes , I just sanded these with a sanding pad I also bought at Wal-Mart . It is a rectangle foam sanding pad that is cut at a 45 degree angle on one side . The angle comes in handy for getting into the area between the center and the barrell of the wheel . I used a couple pads on these wheels . I applied primer first . Take your time and they will look good . The center caps are NOS so they help add to the wheels appearance . The rings I have are nice but I am thinking about finding a set of NOS rings also . I had these wheels on my 77 driver so they are not as nice as they could be . I will probably redo them if I keep them on this truck . I would like to see some 18 or 20 inch wheels on it . Frank

If you set them up right, they look good w/steel or billet.

Will do Pete . If I come across anything like this , I will pass it on to you since you are looking . I think since you are way up there , I would be searching Craigslist in Montana and Oregon since the tan truck I have was bought new in Oregon and was last registered in Montana before it came to the Lonestar state . I see nice trucks on Ebay that are in Oregon quite often .

Yeah, for me, rallies are the way to go since my wallet resembles Old Mother Hubbard's Cubbard, if you know what I mean. I'll have to investigate the spraypaint aisle at the Mart today or tomorrow. I have limited tools in my condo as well. All my tools are in my dads garage an hour away, so refurbishing my rallies needs to work with limited resources. Does anyone know where to get a nice set of GMC centercaps, without paying an arm and a leg?

Your local car parts house should carry different options for 'steel wheel' paint. I've used Krylon 'Dull Aluminum' paint in the past but it has been phased out of production as it's getting harder to find. The nice thing about Krylon vs. other brands is it dries much faster so it's more forgiving in an outdoor environment. Paint that takes an hour to dry just doesn't work good outside w/everything stirred up by the slightest winds but it works if you have a sheltered space for painting.

I purchased my almost new looking center-caps from Frank on the board (PICKMUP). They were packaged well & he was easy to deal with.

For trim rings, I like late model (88-98) GM truck rings. They're usually cheaper & can be found @ most hub-cap places as well as swap meets & wrecking yards.

Those are the 15x8 inch Rallys off of my 77 longbed and the tires are 255/60 front and 275/60 rear . I put the aluminum wheels on the 77 longbed and they actually look OK on it . That may turn out pretty good too, these aluminum wheels do seem to look better when installed on longbed and/or lifted trucks. This truck now with the Rallies tho - absolute beauty
