Drag Racing Suspension
I know, I know...why drag race a truck...because I have it...that's why. Is there a good book on how to set-up and tune suspension for drag racing? How about books on setting up rearend gear ratios, transmissions, and torque converters for your engine torque and rpm curve to obtain the best 1/4 mile performance?

w/ stock truck susp.??? my dad has a 4 link underneath of his 68 and is switching to a camaro sub frame this winter

I found a book on Amazon about Bracket Racing and set-ups that might help. I just want to understand/appreciate the entire package for maximizing 1/4 mile performance given a certain engine hp and torque curve. I know everything from tire compound to torque converter will affect it so it would be nice to at least start the buildup with some understanding. The truck will be a Friday night cruiser and bracket racer so why not put the right parts in from the beginning.

The stock suspension on the 2wd trucks makes a good race truck. With the trailing arms and all. Maybe put coilovers behind the rear axle that would help some.

I run thirteens with basically stock suspension. I fitted suburban rear coils and cheap shocks on the back, that rear suspension will take all the power you can throw at it. Your problem will be traction, relocate weight to the rear, battery and fuel. Lighten the front, a glass hood is an easy tenth on our trucks. Use slicks (28 x 10 smallest size). Apart from that it's all the standard go fast tricks.

another old style trick is run a 50/50 drag shock on the left rear and a air shock on the right rear and adjust pressure for maximum traction
