Now that I got your attention

, I have been practicing on painting door logos for my beater/shop truck. I'm not really planning on going with Jenny's, but it will probably end up hanging on the shop wall one day! I patinafied a door to match my truck and went to town. My technique got better as I went along, but I totally free-handed this. I will use tape to keep everything level and even and will draw the outline of the letters with pencil to make sure everything is the same size when I do it for real. I'm going do some sanding on the letters when it dries and see what the does. How do ya'll think it looks? I'm still undecided on what lettering i'm going to actually put on the truck. Any suggestions?

Looks pretty good! I think I would try to center it on the door a bit more when you do it for real.

I think it might look better if you keep your design above the body line on the door.

No, really all it is three different color rattle cans that I googed to acheive the look. I put down a Royal Blue base (if you will

) and fogged Chrysler Blue and White over it until it matched the truck. I found out I could do this a couple days ago because my truck my a strip of balck paint on the door, and I blended it this was to cover it. Below is a pic of the paints, a before and after shop of the door on the truck.

The final product will be straight, centered ,and the letters will be consistant as well. I will lay it out when I do it on the truck, but I was mainly getting a feel for how to actually paint it today.

You asked about sanding it, but in the pics the letters hadn't been touched. I achieved the streaky look here by dry brushing, but I sanded them tonight with 600 grit paper, and they look awesome. I will post some pics tomorrow. I didn't really figure out how to do them the best way until I got to the second A in garage. The A-G-E look perfect after sanding.

Here are some of the letters after sanding. The last 2 letters of "garage" and "5309" look the best because by the time I got to them, I have figured out the best way to paint them. I'm going to start on another test door tonight and see how it turns out.
