It was quite a biotch to get the original spring bolts out, ended up breaking 3 out of 4 bolts and grabbed the port-a-band and cut the coils out so i could use the impact on the upper bolts. my pass. side bolt was rusted pretty solid in the arm, so the head just twisted off, lots of fun, these arms are one heck of a rust trap I put new shock all around, and let me tell you the ride is night and day difference. After my sons and i got it all back together, the wife kids, including the dog, and I went for a ride in the country all of my old shocks were plum wore out. it had coil overs in the rear and would bounce like crazy.
I know, I know, the rear is lower than the front, but i ran out of time, and since I sold my 1990 k1500 to my bro in law, this is my DD and I have to work tomorrow
tomorrow after work I am going to cut the front coils
i will keep y'all posted

Looks good. About how much drop did you get from those rear coils? How much drop are you looking to get in the front?

Yeah, new shocks are definitely a cost effective upgrade. I didn't realize how bad my '64 rode until I rebuilt the suspension on it a few years ago. BIG improvement!

Re: Joined the "lowered club"...half way, at least

salazar, they work nice, supposed to be 3-4 inches of drop, depending on how much your stockers sag. do a search for jeep coils, there are a few people on here that have done the swap, this site is where I found the info...have I mentioned that this place is great!!!! If you want some of these springs, check your local 4x4 shops, they might have some laying around, I put an ad on craigslist and a guy who installs lift kits called me and sold 'em cheap. I also found some on ebay for $0.99 plus shipping

oldblue, haha that's our Mitch, he loves to ride

TimE, . I got before and after shots, but failed to measure before and after, but I'm guessing I got around 4(or a bit more) inches between the jeep coils and removing the coil over shocks on the rear. Probably need about 2 inches on the front, figure I will start with cutting one coils and go from there. Another thread on here said he cut 1 coil and 3 inches and I believe he said he got 2-2 1/2 inches

slammed1966, so far I love it, this is about as low as the wife will let me go, but once I get to work on my '64 I'm going lower

Re: Joined the "lowered club"...half way, at least

That looks like a Pit or Boxer Trailer ornament. I have two boxers, one fat boy and one slim and trim. I dont know why he is so big, they eat the same. I will check out the jeep stuff. Looking to get something for the rear... i cut the fronts and now im raking it pretty bad!

so its jeep wrangler TJ 1996-2007 ? anyone else?

Re: Joined the "lowered club"...half way, at least

yup looks good , I just installed the ccp 3/5 lowering kit, the rear was a pain, snaped all rear bolts, luck I had some at home, the then the coil was still stuck, torched it and she came out, let me know about your front end.. trying to figure out some alignment specs my front end coils were removed by jacking the front end up the using a jack stand on the frame then remove the ubolts hold the "A" arms attached to the cross memeber then SLOWY lower and the spring falls right out easy job on my 65 now I need to learn how to post pics...

Re: Joined the "lowered club"...half way, at least

sorry salazar, can't get the link to work
use the search feature and type in "jeep coils"

scott, got held up late at work, wasn't able to get anything done

thanks Morton!

thanks Dad'sred, did you have use a adjustable track bar?
I never thought about dropping the arm like that, I have always disconnected the lower ball joint to drop the spring. might have to try your way. did the u-bolts come out easy?

Truck looks cool!!!!!! I told you those aliens have already invaded!!! They're all over the place.

After the work on the rear-end, I think I would be coating the front end in penetrating oil all week to get it ready. Heat is headed your way.......110* today.
