I am having problems putting my brand new GM handle on my vent window, does anyone have an install write-up?

Re: vent window handle install?
I didn't have a problem when I swapped my wing assy, can't remember exactly the steps. What exacty is going on with it? i just held the cap on the outside, and there's only one screw going through the center of the assembly. You do have to pull the pin out of the handle and remove the handle from the rest of the unit.....other than that I'm at a loss for words. Good luck with it, hopefully someone else can chime in...

Re: vent window handle install?
If it's only the handle your talkin about, I just had both mine off 2 nights ago (tinting windows).
There is a small roll pin at the edge closest to the glass. I used a drift (a small nail would work in a pinch) to lightly drive it out. Careful not to hit too hard since it is set in glass. Once the pin is out, wiggle handle and it should come off. There will be a wave washer behind it for tension. Installation is reverse. |

Re: vent window handle install?
The problem occurs when I want to put the new handle/spring/knob on the piece that is bolted in. It seems like it is not going on far enough for me to get the roll pin in. It gets close, but not far enough. Im think I must be hanging up on something, but can't figure out what.

Re: vent window handle install?
Now I did notice that one side of mine was different than the other. It must have been changed somewhere down the line. Anyway, one side, the handle "clocked" into position. In other words, it would'nt seat far enough when turned at certain angles but I twisted while applying pressure and it fell into the slot. Not for sure why the other side didn't do this. Not even sure whether it would be the handle or the stem that causes this. Maybe wrong handle?

Re: vent window handle install?
Try doing it from the outside of the door with the wing open, if you're not already. You may have to have a helper to hold the window steady...

Re: vent window handle install?
thanks a ton guys, the last few replies narrowed it down, and it was the clocking issue. All is good now, i've got the new handle installed and good to go, thanks again.
