Wow, that's a longer list than my resume...

I'm scored a swaybar from a board member... which delighted me greatly.

Re: free goodies-what have you been given

Well, I haven't ever got any free parts but I did give a young fellow a good used manual steering box for his 67, so I guess I've got some karma credits coming for that (as in truck parts karma credits)-There is such a thing, right?

Re: free goodies-what have you been given

-Two front quarter panels
-One rear bedside
-A set of rally rims
-A set of old aluminum mags. Wish I still had those. Tossed them because I didn't like the looks and I didn't know that they were otherwise hard to find.
-Other various odds and ends. But the above are the biggies.

Re: free goodies-what have you been given

I was givin a complete tach dash cluster once. I got $400 when I sold it years ago.

EDIT: At one point in time I had 17 of these trucks at the same time (I have had over 20) Most of the trucks (67-72 chevy and GMC) I have owned have been freebies. I used to drive around searching for them and gathering up all the free or realy cheap ones. But I should note almost all the ones I have had have been either rusted out bad, beat up bad, or didnt have titles. Most of them where also base model 2wd LWB 3/4 tons. I sold everything I had about 7 years ago.

Re: free goodies-what have you been given

Most of the things I have been given came with a higher price tag than just buying it. Some people think "giving" means "you owe me forever, over & over".

Re: free goodies-what have you been given

WELL Hear goes.

1967 chevy 3/4 ton small window 4x4, said if I got it running I could have it. All it needed was a timing chain and fuel pump.

Bought a 69 chevy body off a guy. He wanted the frame for a sandrail project. Went to pay him and he handed me the signed title and said keep your money.

My buddy's wife rolled his 72 4x4 half ton. He sold alot of the good stuff, but had the steering setup still. I bought that from him, went to pick it up and he said take everything else too. Frame, front and rear axles, NP205 Tcase just rebuilt, new drivelines, 4 33x12.50x15 tires and 2 rally wheels. Major score.

NOW IF I COULD REMEMBER HOW I TOOK THINGS APART I WOULD HAVE THE 69 ON THE 72 FRAME.

Re: free goodies-what have you been given

Many parts when I seriously needed them but the very best has been...

*** a helping hand when I needed it, without reservation
*** the friendship and trust from my truck buddies
*** and best of all, this board and it's members

I can't think of a single part that I would trade the above for!
I have been accepted by those here with honesty, good humor
and selflessness that is astounding for such a large, diverse group.

Pat yourselves on the back because you folks ROCK!

Re: free goodies-what have you been given

A set of near new tires.
A running l6 292 engine.
A front clip off of a '69 GMC.
A new set of out rocker panels.
I am sure there were a lot of other small parts.
A place to learn about these old trucks with a bunch of great people to converse with- this forum.

Re: free goodies-what have you been given

Before I was a board member, I had my cousin, Jerry Jones, search for an e-brake pedal assembly for me. He found one about 15 minutes away.

When we went to pick it up, a very nice feller named Jerry Mosswas nice enough to just donate it to me.

Thanks again, Jerry.

P.S. That's why I love this board!

Re: free goodies-what have you been given

My buddy owns a salvage yard and years ago 2 different times he called me and said he had something for me. First time was a brand new take-off fleetside tailgate, with the cheyenne trim. PERFECT The second time was a NOS brand new stepside tailgate. I sold the stepside gate and have kicked myself every since then. I guess that all the trucks and left over junk i had given him paid off through the years.
