dash and gauges swap
If i were to install a complete new or restored dash with all factory gauges ** Would this fit in place of any stock dash. Mine is set up where the blinkers and generator light are in where the tach sits. It has an aftermarket tach set up on the column already, I believe its a sun tach, would the wiring for that work for the tach in the restored dash. Im thinking everything should just connect right up, or is it not that easy ? Would love to have that and get rid of all the other after market gauges. Is it unusal that my blinkers are not on the outside of the area where the tach would be. On most the dashes i see they are on the outsides ??

Re: dash and gauges swap
The "idiot light" gauge panels use a different under-dash harness than the standard gauged panel, so it's not a direct plug-n-play swap. And yes, the idiot light panels have the blinkers in the middle.

Re: dash and gauges swap
Here is a link from gmcpauls for guage dash conversion. You need to make some loom changes. The factory tach uses a seperate loom.

Re: dash and gauges swap
I did the change out following the directions in the FAQ section - I had to change a few wires around in the connectors to the back of the gauges and then run a couple for the ammeter - it's not real difficult though.
