Re: Truck might be on hold again....

My brother reloads for him and his son and a few days ago he told me that the price of reload supplies has about doubled since the last time he bought them.

I don't shoot a lot, just a snake or varmit now and then. I don't enjoy shooting at a paper target as much as working on these old trucks.

My brother and his son are both in law enforcement so they have to practice to be able to keep their certs.

Re: Truck might be on hold again....

Even with the price increase, I think I'd be reloading from looking at the boxed ammo prices lately. But then again, I've been reloading for 15yrs.

I'm kinda lucky though, I guess. I bought enough supplies to reload a thousand or so rounds for each of my rifles a couple of years ago when I was doing a lot of Prairie Dog shooting. Then got out of it, so i still have gobs of components left in the closet. Enough to last me 5-10 yrs, unless I start shooting PD's again.

But with all that being unrelated to your situation, you might look into an RCBS master kit, and then some powder, bullets, and primers. (I hope you've been saving that brass?) The money spent should come back to you pretty quick by looking at the price per box you posted. That is, if you shoot that beast enough to be complaining about the cost of feeding it, which is completely understandable if you do.

Re: Truck might be on hold again....

I have an old Smith .44 mag that I love to shoot, but it's just not practical anymore(not that it was ever 'practical'). Costs too damn much. Instead I just go play with .22's and 9's. I haven't looked into it, but does anybody know why certain ammo has doubled in one year?

costs of materials and the manufacture of said materials. Copper and brass are retarded. You can actually make coin recyling your brass!!

Re: Truck might be on hold again....

What kind of AR is that, Jcent? I used to have a Bushmaster, and I've been looking at a S&W MP15 here lately. I sure do miss having an AR.

Re: Truck might be on hold again....

I gots mine for $570.00 online...The best price ever seen. most are $1200 plus for an AR with adjustable stock. I bought mine from CMMG..they have a bargin bin special...but you cant pick brand or anything...just size. Its luck of draw on the brand. Mine is a carbine 16'' model DPMS. It was brand new though...looked to be test fired thats all.

I just got back from a Ventura show. People were buying ammo like crazy. They called it obama rush.

I was talking to the local tire shop guy about getting a little lead for a small project and he said they come to him all day trying to buy it . He cashed in a 5 gallon bucket of old tire weights the other day for $367 .

Re: Truck might be on hold again....

Wanna know whats out of hand?

.700 Nitro Express....

....is over $300 for a box of 200. It costs me over $15 every time I pull the trigger.

And Im not sure whats more crazy, me buying that gun knowing ammo was expensive, or buying the gun and never shooting it because of the ammo.
