My plans for my buildup, opinions?
this is sean from baton rouge louisisna, just wnated to tell yall my plans to see if anyone has any advice, etc. I have a 69 swb frame(coil springs). i am planning on using Early Classics 4/6 drop kit, and replacing the 6 lugs with 5 lug disc in the front and rear, i think i'm gonna get the early classic front end rebuild kit too, i am using the 402 bb from my 72 3/4 ton, i am getting soemone to build it for me so i dont screw it up, i have a 12 bol already, probably gonna get posi for it, using the perfect a/c cab that from my 72 3/4 ton lwb custon 20 and the fenders etc too. I am planning on shaving everything by myself(uncle has fab shop) and painting everything myself, i am using he bed off of my 71 step daily driver since we already replaced the floor with sheet steel and I herculined it, My goal by the end of this summer is to have a rolling chasis with motor, fuel cell, etc. i think thats the expensive part, then i'm gonna slap the cab/fenders on and primer it so i can whoop a few Mustangs while i'm saving for the body work and interior, i think it'll take me about 4 years,i'm only 17 now, what do yall think? has anyone used Early classic before, there tech guys know some stuff. what about rear disc rakes, which brand have yall used? what about Painless wiring or the wiring from catalogs like LMC or Year One? any tips comments will be appreciated, thanks

Sounds Like you have a good plan. I have a early classics 2/4 kit and it is o.k. not bad, but not exceptional either. The one thing I do reccomend is get a "complete" kit. Also make sure you get an adjustable track rod. My axle is misaligned with only 4 inches of drop. The only other thing I can think of is paitience you will need a lot of that.

Hey? I live in Praireville. I have dropped my front 21/2 and have power disk. My truck is in pieces at the school I work at. I should have it drivable by Easter Break. The welding shop at school welded in new cab corners, inner and rocker panels, and cover the hole in my cab where the gas tank was. I have put a new replacement blazer tank under the rear of the bed. Also the guy in the shop at school have replace my bed floor with steel checker. We will put it together this up coming week and prime the bed so I can drive it. Then I will have to work on the cab and front body parts. Nice to know there is a 67-72 guy near by.

Hey. I forgot I have change my truck from 6 to 5 lug. Also have rebuilt the 250. Had to because the engine resembled the Exxon Valdez.

the tracking is off because of the 4"? I guess you need to get that adjustable bar and shock relocator thing? I have the 2/4 drop kit and already have the front assembled, I'm getting ready to do the back. You think it will happen with every truck?
btw, I dunno if anyones said anything about it yet, but if yer gonna do rear discs.. a lot of people tell me its more trouble than its worth, so.. make sure you get some info on that part before you do it, I don have any details, something about a proportioning valve and brake lockups ------------------ Projects Belair '71 C10 LWB to SWB conversion:C10 project page 65Chevelle pics coming soon |

the kit Early Classic sells for the 4/6 drop comes with the trac bar relocator AND shock relocater brackets, i figure if its gonna take me five years anyway, i just soon put rear discs on it so it'll look even better, i just found out that my friend bought a 70 with an old 427 in it from some car or somethig, now i have to find the money to get my 402 built to at least 450 hp, maybe NOS too, just incase his is faster

I put 2 1/2 drop spindles in front of my 67 and 4 in. springs in the rear and I measured my rearend and it is centered to the 16th of an inch. So maybe after years of service as in anything, things move and flex to get out of alignment. My 67 has less than 100,000 original miles on it and hasn't been worked real hard in those years. Besides its been parked for extended periods of time twice. Or maybe the factory had big tolerances in frames in our trucks and some were right on and some weren't.
