Picts of my 72 2wd Blazer 8-lug swap & picts of my parts score!!
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=292500
If you didn't see my original post click the link above. I did the unthinkable maybe even sacrilegious act of swapping my 72 2wd Blazer from 5-lug (most of the original 5-lug stuff was gone already!) to an 8-lug 2wd set-up I already had. The Blazer had no rear in it so I put an 8-lug Dana 60 that I had in there to put tires on it and liked the look. It sat for quite a while while finishing up some other stuff and anyways, my surgery date was coming up so I needed to get some stuff done to it before I couldn't do anything for 2-3 months. I hatched a plan and did it!! I rebuilt the front-end and used some lowered springs I had. This swap is cool because you can reverse engineer my swap to complete a 3/4 ton to 1/2 ton swap which is pretty popular. The 3/4 ton control arms interchange with the 1/2 tons, so same/same there. 3/4 ton ball joints upper and lower are different, so if 3/4 ton to 1/2 ton swap, remove the 3/4's and install 1/2's and you're ready. The upper control arm bushing is different but the lowers are the same. Other than that here are some pictsa of the work. Ignore the lop sided look as the passenger's tire is a bit bigger than the DS. I bought a set of Hummer 17 inch alloys off the bay so it'll have a low slammed look on 17's with a 250L6 and either an NV3500 or a 700r4 as I have both, just need to heal up so I can get back to work!! The rest of the picts are some picts of the stuff I scored last weekend. I never find Blazer's for parts, so when I did I bought everything I could think of, what do you think!? More of the score, seats (3 front w/brackets and a sweet highlander rear!) the corrogated mat and a sweet rear rubber mat for Blazer, unpictured are a sweet hatch complete! a nice tailgate, and some other stuff, no bragging or gloating just showing that if you look eventually you'll find stuff.

Re: Picts of my 72 2wd Blazer 8-lug swap!!
Man, I go under the knife tomorrow 6/10 to get 3 vertebra fused and a disc removed, so the progress will be a bit delayed!! I got done what I wanted to, but I had hoped to get it home and in the garage so I could sneek some work in on it if I felt up to it, but the wifey said NO, so I'll sit home for a month or so mending my wounds then the motor goes in it, as well as a cherry 68 chevy clip and the 17's maybe 20's if a find a deal on 8-lug 20's.

Thats pretty neat! You should have no problem finding 8 lug 20's on Craigslist. I see guys swappin' wheels like that on there all the time. The problem is you'd probably have to buy some tires. Most all of them have 35's or bigger. I've seen sets go from 250-800.00 for some really nice stuff. Hope your surgery goes well. We'll all be prayin' for ya.

Just heard from Mike!
His surgery went well, although a little longer than expected. He has already gotten up and walked around a little. He will be laid up at the hospital for a couple more days before heading home. He is well on the path to recovery. Please keep him in your prayers and thoughts! Shawn

Re: Picts of my 72 2wd Blazer 8-lug swap!!
I am doing a bit better, but as the Doc warned my back hurts, the estimated 3 hr proceedure took more like 7+ and he tore me up, bigger incisions, more nerve and soft tissue damage. I feel worse now than before, but I also have 5 odd screws in my spine as well as TWO pretty big (read: DEEP!!) incisions in my back and 13 staples.
Anyways to the one of a kind 8-lug 2wd Blazer. First off that wasn't my plan, but to just complete this thing with the parts I had on hand Before the surgery! To speed the process and save $$$. The Hummer 17X8.5" wheels should be here soon enough with a fairly low profile performance set of rubber and the rear lower springs are next. 250 L6/NV3500 5-speed or possibly the 700R4 I have, but all of that is down the road as I need to heal up so's not to tear up my back beyond repair. Be very careful with that back - you only get one in this life, my friend - and be patient, you're young, and you'll heal. We'll pray for ya.
