Very nice. I have a similar Jimmy.
If you don't mind what was the price? I understand if you don't want to say. Enjoy |

Re: 72 Jimmy pictures
Very nice, do you plan on finishing what the PO started as far as the radio is concerned?

Re: 72 Jimmy pictures
It had a radio but it was not working. It had an amp and all kinds of crap mount under dash. It had a cb, a Heath kit cruise control, and alarm system. I think there was a wiring problem with radio. Now that I have removed all the goodies from under the dash I'll try the radio again. I paid $6500 for it. I left Dallas Thur. eveing about 8:00PM and got home Sat. morning about 2:00AM. It's a little over 1200 miles. I had to put a set of tires and a fuel pump on before I left Dallas. The Jimmy had sat for the last 5 years and hadn't been driven much.

Re: 72 Jimmy pictures
That's awesome, 1200 miles!! I bet you were a little anxious with every little noise you heard cruising down the road knowing it hadn't been driven for a while. What kind of plans do you have for it?? It's definitley a great platform for anything you plan on doing to it.

New wheels for sure. Alot of clean up and detailing. A tuneup and a new carb. The top comes back off. Alot of topless driving.

Re: 72 Jimmy pictures
Congrats on the purchase. That would be kind of cool to drive 1200 miles home. At least it sounds like it went pretty smooth for ya.
You will enjoy the Jimmy with the top off. I only put mine on for winter storage. My Jimmy is my favorite toy and the kids love riding in it. Hope you have many miles of enjoyment.

Re: 72 Jimmy pictures
I have posted pictures of my Blazer may times. I will have to get pictures of them together. The Blazer is stock height. The Jimmy has a 4" lift. The Blazer has the original paint and has a little rust in the rocker under the doors and dents in the rear quarters by tail lights where PO tried to remove the top and drop it.

Re: 72 Jimmy pictures
Good question, But that is the original paint. May be someone on the board can answer that. I had a 71 2wd orange Jimmy and the letter on the tail were orange and the background was white. I'll post pictuers if I can dig one up.

Thank you all for the nice comments. The holley carb starting leaking gas from both bowls the next moring after I got home. I don't know how I made it home. The good Lord was looking after me. I will be replacing it soon. Rounded up tune up part today and going to picking up carb tomorrow.

A story you'll always remember, I know I do.
I did the same thing back in 2000, flew to AZ and drove my blazer back to VT. Love the color, awesome new acquisition. |

Re: 72 Jimmy pictures
That color, my friend, would be ochre. Derived from clay deposits that can be found almost everywhere on the planet, some sources say ochre was the first colored paint. Records of its use among the aboriginal people in Australia date back to around 40,000 years ago.
Hey, what can I say, I'm partial to the hue!

Re: 72 Jimmy pictures
The tail gate must have been repainted at some point or it had a tailgate strip (which would have left holes)
