Re: gauges

there is no cheap way. to swap all the gauges including the speedo will run about 500 for the guages alone.

Gauge, Phantom, Fuel Level, 2 5/8 in., Analog, Electrical, $45.95

Gauge, Phantom, Oil Pressure, 2 5/8 in., Analog, Mechanical, $55.95

Gauge, Phantom, Water Temperature, 2 5/8 in., Analog, Mechanical, $72.95

Gauge, Phantom, Voltmeter, 2 5/8 in., Analog, Electrical, $42.95

Speedometer, Phantom Series, 0-200 mph, 5 in., Analog, Mechanical, $129.95
Tachometer, Phantom, 0-10,000 rpm, 5 in., Analog, Electrical, In-Dash, Each $139.95

Sub Total: $487.70

the easy part is mounting . get a piece of aluminium, cut it to match the shape of the original dash , put a bend to match the original (or cut two pieces) and mount the gauges

For that amount of cash I think I'd go with Dakota Digital. Just my opinion. You can't beat the look of a digital dash in these trucks.

I would rather have a broken stock dash than a Dakota digital. Just my opinion.

There are plenty of those to be found on flea-bay.

Re: gauges

I put a set together last year using both Ebay and my local parts store. Total for everything ran $330 including a brushed aluminum dash panel. I took my time and shopped for the best deal. I think it came out pretty good, and for the Tach I went with one that was not designed for in-dash mounting but it fits like a champ.

You can do it if you just shop around and be patient

Re: gauges

The brushed panel is from LMC http://www.lmctruck.com/features/cc/CCBIC.htm
And for the matching panel http://www.lmctruck.com/features/cc/CCBDP.htm
as for gauges, they are 2 5/8 and 5 inch versions. I bought the tach used from a racing shop, and for the rest I shopped around Craigslist and Ebay. It took me about a month to find some good deals, but was worth it. When it came time to load up the panel, I used a die grinder and slowly opened up the holes. I then had to open up my original plastic dash panel in order to make them fit. Here is a couple of shots installed http://www.flickr.com/photos/hikingd...7594445283108/
http://www.flickr.com/photos/hikingd...7594445283108/
  • Tach #4494
  • Speedo #4490
  • Voltmeter #4491
  • Oil Pressure #4421
  • Fuel level #4414
  • Water Temp #4437

The last item which is not shown, will be a plate to cover the existing A/C vent above the controls to house a Boost and one other gauge. I have seen a few done before that looked pretty good.

On the backside, I took my time and created a common ground wire and a plug in pigtail for the wiring. That way if I ever need to take it out of the dash, I won't have to worry about cutting or breaking wires. Of course I forgot to take pictures of the install, as I was in a hurry at the time.. The next one I do, I am thinking of changing the angle to tilt the gauges up a bit for an even better view.

Have fun!

Drew
