Need ideas for body work
Ok here is the situation. The drivers side fender has been replaced. While I had the fender being worked on I got the grill blasted and painted to. So those two panels are the best looking on the truck. The rest is not too good and here is a thread with some pics of the current status.
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=297563 So I guess what I am asking is should go down to a body shop and say wet sand, spray, and clear so that it all looks the same and work on it as well, Or hold out and save up the $$$$$ to get the truck done right and all painted at the same time? Decisions decisions..

Decisions decisions..[/QUOTE] Do I understand that you want to do a little at a time??? If that's the case, here's what I learned from the paint and body forum guys. They recommend doing the painting all at one time for several reasons. It is extremely difficult to insure that the paint will be exactly the same if done at different times. Not sure I remember the reasons but I believe some of them were spraying techniques, paint mixing and weather... |

Re: Need ideas for body work
Hmm thats a good point about the paint. How about this. Lets say you need two gallons to paint your truck. But I have all of the truck done but the bed and I ask the painter to mix it all up. So in short he sprays the gallon for one half of the truck but mixes the rest and its sealed up in the can. I take the can home and ask him to use it next time when I am ready to paint the bed. Would that work?

Re: Need ideas for body work
I have a friend who owned a body shop for 30 years and asked him. He also said the same thing. Too many minor variances that would affect the paint, painting, and painter... May be noticeable or not, but he doesn't recommend doing it at different time intervals.
