Mike.. you didn't just say freebies did you?? stop that!! Your giving away our secrets!

I will admit they do seem to grow on trees here in the northwest and have seen about a half dozen free ones on Craigslist in the last 6 months. I am guilty of dragging a few of them home myself.

Yeah, these things are a dime a dozen around the PacNW. Anyone need one from here- I'd do a roadtrip!

I'm running around Texas,New Mexico and Oklahoma looking to buy a 67-72 A/C shortbed truck. There's thousands of them out her but I haven't found a good deal yet. Everything is worn out or over priced.

Get the state to stop spreading crossives on the highway 30yrs ago and bingo, old stuff everywere. I'd love to see a class action suit for crossion dammage as a result form rock salt and mag cloride.

Hell, I know of 6 67-72's in a 4 square block radius around my house! I do feel fortunate to be out here on the left coast, because these trucks are plentiful and relatively rust-free (compared to you Midwest and East Coast boys). Sometimes I feel guilty for *****in' about the price of OE parts, when I know ya'll on that side of the big muddy would have to pay 3x or 4x the price for the same part.

Come on now... You Northwest guys sound like you just go pluck them off trees when you need one...

I've got an ex brother in law out in Wala Wala. I might email him to look for one for me.

Pretty much that is the way it is here.. and the prices seem to be dropping quickly too!! But you do need to keep in mind alot of it is rusty junk, a pile of parts or way over priced... But there are good deals too!
For example right now on Craigslist there are 26 -72's.. 20 -71's.. 15 -70's.. 11 -69's.. 9 -68's and 7 -67's.. WHEW!! so many trucks, so little time and space to put them!!

Here looks to be a screaming deal... A 69 GMC short wide box for $1000

I have to say after living in the midwest... The Northwest guys have it made as far as minimal rust issues!

It's usually a engine or mechanical work to be done on the trucks here not complete panel replacements as I remember from Chicago!

there's rust and then there's rust.... in many cases, significant rust in Oregon seems directly related to how many years the truck spent on the Oregon coast. The per capita count is high on my block, 6, three at my house and 3 at a neighbors..... they come & go and the neighbors have been very patient with us.

Yes, there's rust and there's..well... where I was in NY, up on the canadian border, we just referred to it as "used to be"... You would point to a spot and say "that used to be the... such n such..." It wasn't so much rust as air where a vehicle part USED to be.

Welcome to the site.

$500? Unbelievable. Is this your first one? I lived in the NW for a for a few years and still have ex in laws and friends over there. Lots of people I know around the Salem area where my ex in laws used to live.

Problem is, with the cost of gas, it would cost me more to fly out there and drive or tow one of them back. So I'll just have to keep looking over here and pay the big bucks when I find a nice one.

They're all over Colorado and Wyoming too. Every time I go back home to visit, I see a bunch. A lot are still in use, too.
