Got a light, but no sound. Unsure if my speaker was ever working.
Anyone have a thread on how to fix these things?? Common problems and such?? TTT

Re: stock AM radio fixes??
The first thing I'd do would be to get a known good 8 ohm speaker and connect to the radio. You could burn up the output transistor trying to play the radio with an open speaker, or none at all. I had a tough time trying to find a suitable replacement a few years ago when trying to repair a similar radio for a friend.

Re: stock AM radio fixes??
Well checking to make sure it was hooked up right first did the trick. My truck never had a radio.
Power, + and - to speaker from the back, then ground the radio. Viola. Just in time for George Nory. LOL thanks guys.

Re: stock AM radio fixes??
BTW, how to check how many ohms a speaker pulls?? I'm planning on building a custom setup with the stock braket with a couple of 4 inch or smaller cheepo's. Do i just go by the ohm on the speaker?? or hit it with a volt meter while running??

Re: stock AM radio fixes??
Why buy one of those when you can have your original radio modified into an 180w AM/FM-CD/XM/MP3 ready stereo? There are companies that do that.No crook`s going to break into your truck to steal an old AM,right?
