new clutch,flywheel and pressure plate?

I installed a new clutch,and presssure plate. I tried to move the clutch fork by hand to see if I could disengage the clutch from the flywheel. It would not budge! Is this normal because it is not connected to the z-bar and clutch pedal yet, or could something be wrong? i assume that the clutch pedal and z-bar give you much more leverage as compared to pushing directly on the clutch fork. I am just trying to test things before I drop the motor and trans back in.....thanks

It's pretty strong.... Unless you're an exceptionally strong person, that pressure plate won't budge without leverage.

In normally installed tranny, you have the advantage of the clutch pedal leverage, the z bar leverage and your thigh muscle pushing against it..

Your not going to move it with your hand. It take alot of leverage for it to move.

thanks...thats what I thought, but since this is my first rebuild I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask.

even installed and assembled, it's a tough number to depress the clutch pedal by hand.

i droped the motor in and assembled the z-bar clutch linkage, MAN that z-bar is something.....when the motor was out I leveraged a breaker bar against the clutch fork in order to test things and it didn't budge! So I drop the motor in and hook up the z-bar to the clutch pedal, and the clutch disengaged without a problem! I quess the combination of the z-bar and the clutch pedal applies so much more leverage. Impressive engineering, albeit decades old!
