no more buckets for me
i built me a bench seat, got tired of the buckets and looking for a bench seat close enough and cheap enough to be worth it so after a few nights of grinding and welding ive got me a bench seat that i built myself
its alot more comfortable than it looks, even my brother inlaw who loves alot of cushion said its comfortable and my brother said its comfy to, it does sit a couple inches higher than my old seats which feels like alot more than i thought it would but itll just take a little getting used to

Re: no more buckets for me
You should have a lot more leg room now. Easy to clean too Just throw a couple patio chair pads in there for longer drives....

Re: no more buckets for me
Ought to cut down on the loose change in the seat cushions for sure! I wonder if that will work like a griddle on a hot day? You could make some side change flipping some flap jacks off that beast.

Re: no more buckets for me
Would that be considered a version of a 'daytime' aftermarket seat warmer?

Re: no more buckets for me
That will bring new meaning to the phrase "rides like a truck". Great job on the cup holders too.

Re: no more buckets for me
Very minimalist, I like it. You may want to keep some cushions handy for those times when it sits for 8 hrs in the hot sun. You don't want to pooche your eggs on the way home from work.

Re: no more buckets for me
Better you than me.I thought my son`s Nissan seat was a buckboard.Nice work. You should have used expanded steel for cooling and non-slip.It would leave a waffle print, though. Can`t say I grasp the no cushion concept.Maybe throw one of grangma`s afghans on there to keep it cool.

Re: no more buckets for me
Looks really cool but definitely not an option in Arizona! The seat belt buckle burns me enough, I can't imagine how hot that seat would get on a 110+ day here!

Re: no more buckets for me
Thats effin cool. Are you planning on making the rest of the interior match the unfinished look?
How is it to sit in it? I would have gone with a little contour to the seat back and ass portion, myself.

Re: no more buckets for me
I'm pretty open timewise (just retired from the Fire Dept). Do you do the Sonic thing in Oildale or is there somewhere else guys with these trucks meet? I live in the west end of town.
I was just thinking you could always replace the sheetmetal and go to some kind of webbing if it doesn't work out. It would definatelly keep you from getting a hot butt (best seat out there if no A/C) and would be a tad more comfortable but still minimalist. |
