20" tire size

I think I know the answer to this, but want to run it by some people.

I'll be ordering my wheels here real shortly (probably tomorrow). I'm going to be running 20x10" with 6" backspacing and 315/35/20 in the back(tubbed rear wheel wells). I did all the measurements, and they should fit.

Here is the question. What size in the front, on 20x8 wheels (4" backspacking). I'm thinking 245/45/20. Does this sound right, and should I have any fitment issues?

The truck is bagged on stock arms, but I'll won't be driving it around all aired out.

Re: 20" tire size

on my 86, I run 20x8.5- 4.25 BS w/ 245/40/20 up front, could have went with 45's no problem.
Mine's static dropped 5" up front.
What wheels are you getting?

Re: 20" tire size

245/40's to compliment the 315/35's. The 245/45's will have a taller 'looking' sidewall (they calculate out as the same dimension but the 45 series will appear taller).

Re: 20" tire size

I got the wheels ordered today.

I ended up getting 5.75" backspacing on the rears, so the lip will match that of the fronts.

Toyo discontinued the Proxes S/T tires (at least in 315/35/20), so the only other tire the guy could find me was some yokohamas that were about $500 for the package. However, Toyo is going to be coming out with 315/35/20s in the Proxes S/T IIs in September. The wheels are supposed to take 4-8 weeks to get made, so hopefully by then the Toyo tires will be out, and I can get the less expensive tires. Oh, the guy couldn't find a 245/40/20 tire either, so I'll probably go with 245/45/20 anyway. I guess we'll see in a few weeks.

Re: 20" tire size

right now im running 20x 8.5 rims 5.5backspacing (were some of the early 20s to come out) and i am running general grabber 275 45 r20s all around i have no problems aside from a wee bit of rear inside fender rubbing on hard (40+) turns.

Now I'm thinking of going with 275/40/20 for the front. Do the front tires rub on turns? How much are you lowered?

no my front tire dont rub at all it my rears that are hitting the inside of the fenders. only running a 2/3 right now.

just so you know a 45 is the tire i think Dodges 20" stock size. making tire variety alot larger and Cheaper. when i was looking at 40's they were all about 300 bucks.
