Cargo light problem
i am wantin to take out the cargo light in my 79 and fill it and make it smooth. i went to take it out and got confused on the wiring. how is the cargo light and interior light hooked up to the switch by the driver side door? how can i remove the cargo light and keep the interior light hooked up?

The cargo light and interior light wiring are connected. If you want to eliminate it, just cut the cargo section out of it... You will be left with an orange and white wire..

Still will have to separate the wires, but you will need to tap into the brake switch.

I took out my cargo light and made it a brake light with the addition of a 1997 Nissan light fixture. Decently shaped and designed light and it fits over the holes and makes the truck look better.

My 79 has seperate connectors for the dome and cargo light down by the floor below the cargo light switch.

Hope this helps. The upper connector on left is the dome light and the lower on right is the cargo light. The wires going off to the right behind the seat belt retractor goes up to the dash.
