lowering question

Right now my 68 is lowered with 4 inch blocks. I plan to fix this by using 4 drop coils and getting rid of the blocks.

My question is do I need an adjustable panhard bar or shock relocators with 4inch drop coils?

thanks

Re: lowering question

for a 4" drop it's not a necessity, but...... you should probably pull the trigger on an adjustable bar. it does make a difference.

go with the ECE Super Trac Bar. great quality and fit.

Re: lowering question

you should do both the shocks perform better in a straight upright position you loose alot of thier performance the more they are inclined and it just looks better with an adjustable panhard having your rear centered in the chassis

Re: lowering question

If you go with the new shock relocators, let us know how you remove the factory rivets! Some say it's easy and some say it's a P.I.T.A!

Re: lowering question

My vote is for ECE. I have several of their suspension components on my truck, including and adjustable panhard bar and rear springs. Their customer service is also FANTASTIC!!

Re: lowering question

ECE is great and as far as the rivets for the shock mounts... I took my bed off to get them otherwise they would have been a PITA. ECE does have great customer service!

Re: lowering question

I went with ECE on the Wife's '63. Good stuff and great service. I used a cutoff wheel to remove the rivits. A good sharp air chisle would probobly work also.

Re: lowering question

quickest way I have found to remove the rivets is to grind the head off, then drill out with 3 incrementally larger bits.

a pita, but easier that banging the crap out of your hands with a cold chisel

Re: lowering question

save a few bucks in the long run and get ECE's kit, with bar, shock relocator, and lowered shocks.

I use them because the quality is good and I've actually gotten parts in as little as 2 days (Bakersfield is not that far from Fresno).

Re: lowering question

I dropped mine 3 1/2 front and 5 rear. Used all ECE components. I ground the rivet heads off with a grinder, popped out what was left with a punch. Wasn't too bad. Excellent parts and customer service beyond reproach in my dealings with them. JMO!

I remove rivets all the time.I use an air hammer with chisel bit.Takes about 10 seconds apeice. If you dont have an air hammer the cutoff wheel is next.

Currently working on same type project, I like using an air chisel on them factory rivets, if a good quality unit is on hand, it should only take 15-20 seconds to knock the head clean off each rivet then just drive'em out.

I would stick with ece, especially if it's gonna be an order/pay by phone and ship deal! ! !
