Old Blue's motor is toast......

Well, we have been having issues with oil pressure in the C10. It's a '66 283 Power Pack motor with who knows how many miles on it....It appears that the crankshaft is bent and it is spinning a rod bearing. It still runs, but has developed a noise.....

We have a '67 327cid 365hp from a 67 Chevelle that we are hoping to re-build over the winter....it just sucks that I won't be able to drive her like I want to until next spring. A few little rides around here until the 283 lets go is about I can I hope for until then....

I'll tell you the same thing I told bob last night...
I hear a 500 mill fits rright down in htere and gets better MPG.
Then he started sayin something about a 427.

Sorry to hear the driving season`s cut short with Ol`Blu.We`ll both have 3-2-7s in our trucks,though.

Sorry to hear that Jackie. Now you and Bob can go wild and stroke that small block I have to get up there sometime with the kickpanels to finish off that interior It's been so long I have to remember where I put them

Too bad about the 283, but you will LOVE the 327. I have one in my 55 sedan with Brodix IK-180 heads, solid lifter cam, and small 4bbl. That thing just revs like crazy and still makes great low-mid RPM torque.

A note of caution: The 365hp motors had domed pistons and 11:1 compression, which is way too high with iron heads and today's fuel octane. I would use some flat top pistons and would probably look for a more modern cam. I'm using a CompCams XS262S solid lifter cam in mine.

I have to admit when he told me what he suspected the noise was, my heart dropped. One of my other trucks had a 69 327 in it and when the motor locked up he sold the truck.....I wanted to cry for fear he'd ship this one off too....lmao.....but then I remembered he actually likes this truck....he wasn't as crazy about the '71 I had......
