Post NEED EXPERT HELP!!! Junkyard find and two days to buy!!!

found some low back buckets in a 73 blazer that look oh so close to what is supposed to be in my 70... they have the slight taper in the back cushion with the 1" chrome square in the middle... I would have to replace the seat covers however the seat sits comfy in the truck... Question is if the seat bolts up to the factory holes in the 73, will it bolt into the 70 bench seat holes??? I saw a black 72 gmc on the board recently that had 73 buckets in it, and looked good, but i think these are out of a earlier one....they guy wants 75 bucks for em, my prollem is im on break from school right now and i have to head back in two days... WHAT SHOULD I DO????

The seats themselves will look nearly stock when recovered. The brackets will not work, the seats will sit too high and at wrong angle. Even if brackets are from 69-72 seats, you will still need to drill holes for them. 69-72 brackets are a direct bolt on to the seat frames. I think boardmember Tom Hand fabricated something that looked real nice, check him out. Also, Classic GM Sports makes the passenger side bucket brackets, but you still need to do something about the adjusting driver side.

Good luck

These are 73 buckets with 72 covers on them. I used a set of benchseat brackets on each one with an simple angle iron adapter to make them bolt on. It was very simple to do and everybody who sees them thinks they are stock. If you want I can send you more pics when I get home from work.

Tom, I would like to have pics of those brackets to, if you don't mind. I'm in a similar situation, but my buckets are out of a later model. (76-77 or so) I have a couple of questions about the subject. (1) Will the '70 seat covers fit the 76-77 seats? (2)Did you have to modify the console to make it fit the floor? Thanks

HuggerCST are the seats you are talking about lowbacks? If the answer is yes then they will fit. I am not sure what year they went to the highbacks on the newer trucks. I will post pics of the brackets when I get home from work. The console was a bolt in,the only differance between a 72-down console and a 73 -up console is the 73-up console has cupholders instead of seat belt holders.

I'm not sure about them being low backs, I haven't looked at them in about 6 months, and don't remember. I'll have to check that. Thanks.

Ok here are the brackets again for any body that wants them. The first piture of the bracket I made It is just made of angleiron and some flat stock.

Here are a couple that show how they bolt up. They are simple adapters that make bench seat brackets bolt on. If your were to hold a set of bench seat brackets up to a set of 73 seats the pictures would make more sense.

And the finished product. You can not see the brackets I made unless you get on you hands and knees.[Maybe thats why I only show them to girls. LOL]

Sorry I don't think I ever meaured them. I built them at work and just used the seat for measurements. It wast kinda like hold the angle iron up to the seat, put your thumb on how long it needs to be, walk over to the bandsaw and cut it. After I welded the flat stock on the angle, I just stuck up to the seat and marked it with a pencil where the holes needed to be drilled. I swear I never used a tape. I mean it was three pieces of metal and 8 holes. Sorry but if you are an old shop teacher you have done some of what I am talking about.
