What did you get done?

I spent the weekend working around the house. Got a few small things done that needed my attention.

Beyond that I washed my drivers just so they could get rained on. Spent time working around the pool, and made a small score on eBay.

I have always wanted one of the tachs with the gas gauge built in. These don't pop up often and I have never seen an NOS one for sale. I bid way more than I should have, but it is NOS.

What did you get done?

Re: What did you get done?

my truck has adopted a stumble/miss/weird thing this past week and i spent all day sat trying to trace it and can't figure it out.

idles fine, all wires, plugs, cap, rotor, coil all check out. checked the timing and readjusted the carb thinking maybe witht he weather change lately it has gotten upset. none of this made any diference.

but when i give it gas it shakes and runs very rough. and sometimes its worse then others.

i dont get it.

Re: What did you get done?

Started the job of hacking my inner bedsides on my '86 for some clearence for 20's. I used my homemade backspace tool and a fabbed pencil adapter to scribe a line for the required 30" tires. Then taped up the bedside and got busy with a cutoff wheel and grinder. The last pic shows a 27" tall tire in the opening. Also installed my CPP upper a-arms on my '71 2wd blazer.

Re: What did you get done?

Well this weekend I didnt get much done on the truck, But I did go out rock crawling here locally at the Hammers in Johnson Valley Ca....

We had guys from Vegas and North Carolina show up... FUN time to say the least...

But,Last weekend... I did get to install a 1 3/4'' sway bar on the 81'...Added some Poly bushings also, Made a world of a difference how the truck drives... Very effective addition...

Re: What did you get done?

Worked a little on this

Spent a good 6 hours total at the local self service salvage hunting parts for that truck and my wifes ford.

Spent a good bit of time dinking with my house, trying to finish remodeling my living room. I've found that crown molding sucks when your walls aren't completely square. Damn 1960's builders...

Re: What did you get done?

There’s an old guy on my route (I’m a UPS driver) that has been bugging me to clean out his shed. He knows I’m into trucks and he recently sold a 74 he bought new. No, its not what you think, the 74 was ROUGH. He said his shed was full of parts. I was reluctant because I knew he wouldn’t take any money from me. He pulled up next to me Friday and asked again, I gave in and went over there Saturday.

He had a parking lot full of tail light lenses, parking light lenses and marker lights, all cracked. LOL. Several dash bezels, all cracked/broken. A bunch of broken instrument panels, and several gauges that I’ll test. No tachs. I was able to sell 5 cast iron sbc 2-barrel intakes for him along with 5 pair of stock sbc bare heads. I know some guys that race asphalt and their rules require the cast iron stuff, they were very happy, so was my buddy.

I brought home 2 steering wheels that I’ll try and clean up. Also brought home a 250 cylinder head with a “script” steel valve cover. No, he wouldn’t take any money but he was tickled to death when my friends handed him some cash for the heads and intakes. He was going to take them to the scrap yard. Now he has a clean shed and a very full trash can at the curb.

Oh, and i forgot to add, now he has some "walking around money". His words.

Re: What did you get done?

I didnt even look at my trucks this weekend . I wasnt here . We went on an in-state vacation . .
Thursday was in New Braunfels at Schliterbahn and a nice Bed and Breakfast Thurs. night .

Friday was floating the Comal River ,then to Cabellas for my oldest son to do some shopping , then to San Antonio for the evening . Stayed in a hotel on the river, ate at my favorite restaurant , Casa Rio , swam in the hotel pool on the 22nd floor which was real cool since it was open to the city and the scenery was cool .

Saturday was breakfast in San Antonio then on to the Hill Country. Went to Trade Days in Fredericksburg, Tx so the wife could shop a little . Lunch at Margaritas in Fredericksburg , bowling Sat night because the youngest boy wanted to go bowling , then relaxing in a nice B & B . I like B&B's over hotels since they are usually much nicer .

Sunday was suppose to be spent climbing Enchanted Rock outside Fredericksburg but the weather was unpredictable so we passed . We visited Cross Mountain since the climb was a lot shorter and we could get out of the weather sooner if it started raining . We let the boys play in Crabapple creek a little since they like the water flowing through there . I made a mistake in Georgetown and followed my wife into an IKEA store . That isnt my thing but I am a trooper . Then it was back home to unload , wash clothes , and get ready for Monday .

Pretty fun time .

Sounds like a nice "Tour of Texas" Frank. Since your a Casa Rio fan, you should make it a point to reserve a dinner boat. We have done it a couple of times now with friends and family and loved it. You get great Casa Rio food, and a private tour of the river...
