It's guttless now, but just wait
Blazerboy and Barn9 came by last night and helped me pull the 307. Poor truck is a little guttless now, so to speak, but not for long!
EDIT- I'm going to go ahead and pull all but one of the pictures I had on this post and just put the following link up - the place that I usually use for pics is just too slow! Go here for more pics please Picture page and go to the Pulling 307 album. We of course began by pulling the hood. Then the front clip. Then bolting on the engine leveler. A little friendly persuasion came next. Then, success, it's was out!!! Poor little 307 is so covered with grime. Thankfully only need to clean up the transfer case. Surprisingly this only took 2 hours to accomplish. We were done by 10:20 p.m. Blazerboy and Barn9 spent the next hour and a half trying to talk me into going ahead and getting the body taken care of while it is all torn apart - so tempting, but funds are pretty depleted We finally decided the cab should come off - that will make it so much easier to put in the 454 and the drivetrain. Probably will have some crossmember issues to deal with. I'll post a pic of the engine with components sitting, but not installed, on it in another post. After Blazerboy and Barn9 left, I went inside and remembered I hadn't even offered them soom GOOP to clean up - what a sorry a$$ friend I am!

Plans?
So whats going to happen to the 307? Sell it off, rebuild or just tuck it away for awhile? Looks good so far! I'd redo the body on the front end too, its off and so much easier that way. When i put my crate 350 in i wished i woulda gone that route instead of up and over the grille, ah well.... keep up the good work!

I'd happily make the 307 available for someone extra cheap just so it gets used. It uses a little oil but is still a good motor with alot of life in it.

While I feel for you on the depleted fundage, spring for some degreasewr and more spray paint. While the engine is out, this is the best time to do a little detailing on your fromt frame portion and fennderwells and such.
Nothing setss off a sweet motor better than a nice engine compartment. |

Fun with grease and mud, there just aint nothin' like it! LOL!!
Doesn't really feel like work when you're with friends and having some laughs along the way. Worst part for me was the drive home in the fog, trying to watch for those wild and crazy deer! Sure didn't want to get up this morning. Fun evening though, and progress happened! Now all you guys have to help Jason and I shame ol' Yukon into at least painting the firewall and inner fenders while it is all apart. We're trying to convince him that now is definately the time to do it, as opposed to taking things apart again later. I think he's going to anyway, he just needs a little friendly persuasion, hehehehe!

In two weeks I'll be pulling the 400 out of the Blazer. I considered not detailing the engine compartment but since I'm painting the engine and making it all spiffy I decided I had to give it a nice clean home to sit in. I know myself and I'd regret not finishing the job while I was in there. BTW your swap (and the big block) looks good so far. Ahhh, cubic inches!!!
