Brake Lines

I have a pondering question in regards to the brake lines on the '71 C-10...

Is there any reason the front brake lines couldn't be run along the firewall, instead of under the crossmember? My thinking of this is that it would be much easier to work on, plus they would be higher up in the truck out of the elements and possibly give a longer life. Of course they would need clamped down, but with so much room I don't see that being an issue.

Any opinions?

You can run your lines anyway you want to. But, dont run them higher than the master cylinder or you will have to install Residual valves, 10 psi for the drums and 2 psi for discs. I thing I spelled Residual correctly.

I knew what you meant UMWTMT. If you ran them in the stock location, and spent the money for stainless, the lines would outlast your children

Just for kicks, could you run braided lines from the master out to the wheels?

i would suggest the stainless route too, being on the firewall would make them a pain to bleed out and the fluid would be hot from the engine which could cause boiling under hard braking. boiling=bad

I guess seeing where the lines are at now, there doesn't seem to be much difference in regards to heat.

As for bleeding, wouldn't it be easier since the line would be up higher?
