my little 305 with nitrous

so i dont know if you all remember or not but a few months ago i made a thread about how upset i was with the results of my 5.3 on the juice. since i finished up my 358 build i figured i would first see what the bone stock internals of my 305 would take. well i was out and about all night and i was amazed at how tough this little motor is even on a 150 shot all night it was like it was begging for more. anyways i just thought i would let any of you stuck with a 305 in your car know there is hope out there. lol. i have some videos i will be posting tomorrow.

anyways i will keep you all updated i'll be racing it at the track this weekend and see if she is really as fast as my butt dyno says it is.

mods are as follows:
1986 chevy c10 long bed
305 ci
edelbrock 600
edelbrock performer rpm
nap dizzy
hooker headers
2.5 inch w/40 series
150 shot powerplate system

Re: my little 305 with nitrous

Pullin' the pin and waitin'?! I am surprized how a motor that we don't care about lasts, but one built to the hilt grenades when it shouldn't! If it holds together I'd bet as long as you do not lean it out it'll hold more N2O, than the 150. Nitrous is safe as long as the RPM is good, fuel pressure and timing, it's when one of those three things isn't right, that parts flee the engine!

Re: my little 305 with nitrous

Well, if an NO2 bottle fell out of the bed going down the strip, it might cause some issues, so safety is a good thing! The steel line is another one, only so much rubber line is allowed. In all you'll be better off for the changes and the brain bucket will keep your mellon purty in case of an accident!

Re: my little 305 with nitrous

15@106>>15 parts of engine at 106mph out the exhaust. LOL

Sounds like fun, I allways wanted to see how much nitrous or boost I could shove down a engine I didn't care about.

Re: my little 305 with nitrous

steel fuel lines
mounted bottle brackets.
battery tie down
helmet

I think the list should be reversed .
1. Helmet AUTOMATIC
2. BAtery tie down Very nessesary
3. Mounted bottle brackets - See extra full bottles ratchet strapped in ten-5 cars all the time for extra weight , but should be mounted propery . Imagine it flying around in a wreck .
4. Steel fuel lines ? - push lock is allowed up to 12" here . You must have a roll of the cheap stuff , or they didn't like you .

Make sure we get an update . My guess is if the timing is pulle dcorrectly and the fuel pressure is constant with the plugs correct , we will all be surprised . Hotrod magazine put 400 on a junkyard 305 and it took all of it till the blippped it and it detonated and it still didn't completely destroy it .

Re: my little 305 with nitrous

Make sure you are on good tires and spray it as soon as you get to 3,200 rpm (I'm assuming a stock verter here)..

Re: my little 305 with nitrous

It should do 14's easily. I had a 305 pushing high 16's bone stock. That 305 would not die. 13's if you get traction and NOS through the entire run.
