Sounds like any other run of the mill 350 rebuild. Nothing special that I see. I don't like the head combo at all. They are just ordinary GM heads with 1.94 intakes. To tell you the truth, I don't see 400 HP from this engine. I also don't see $3000.00 for it either. At the most, this engine would probably make 350 HP. It would be pushing it then. The heads are what kills it. I think you can do a lot better than that for the money.

I agree with mike if it had some brand name aluminum heads then you would see 400+ HP, as is NOT!
Look at all the different crate motor dealers out there and you will see the ones that claim 400 HP all use aluminum heads and get just about what that outfits asking maybe a little more. |

no way thats at 400hp. For comparison, my 383 uses the same cam [comp magnum 280H] has 10.2:1 compression, vortec heads, and has 33cid over that engine and should make about 413hp.

Yeah I think I'll just stick with my 383 setup and have someone build it for me.

Gerardo,
have you bought your heads yet? Which ones did you decide to go with, I know AFR's, but what size? And 2/3's of $3000.00 is $2000.00 and your intake, heads and carb will be that much. You get'in the block and other stuff for free? |

I guess I should have said 7/8s for getting close to the final price. I already have the carb (q-jet will be later), intake (RPM-Air gap - FREE . The heads will be about $1300.00 delivered. Parts and assembly about $1300.00. Add the serpentine conversion and the electric fans and costs add up. No wonder BADBOW is still naked with no paint. :p
Heads are still a mystery. Some say the 185s out flow the 190s? I'm gonna have to look closely. I hope to get center bolt cover heads for the older intake styles. I think they are availble. |

G, you want 190's, maybe even 195's. I have not herd the 185's out flow the 190's before.....

Maybe it was the 190 out flow the 195's. My choice is 190 but that's the one someone in a performance section was outflowed by another head.
