Hey guys,

I got the Flex-a-lite fans in today and installed them on the radiator. Got everything tightened up and fired the '87 up.

Trans fluid flowing from both cooling lines. It's like the lines don't mesh up with the fittings in the radiator even though the fittings are tight.

Suggestions?

That's what I'm thinking... i'll contact Be-Cool and see what size line / flare/ etc I'm supposed to use. I figured the stock lines would hook right up and be fine... apparently not.

Let me know when you're ready for the 700. I'm sure I'll have this leak fixed tonight one way or another and can meet with you sometime soon.

I have to take the truck back to the shop tomorrow to have the shift kit re-done... the one they put in is weak... so they ordered a TCI kit and the micro switch for the kickdown.

As it sits, I'll have to have it towed or it'll pump all the fluid out before I get out of the driveway.

I just got off the phone with be-cool, they gave me a couple of "DUH" type suggestions...

I'll give'em a try and see how it works. it was dark when I got around to hooking everything up last night.

I may have some left from the intial build up maybe. I'm not using them on the radiator if that's what you're asking.

My neighbor came over recently and cleaned me out on most of them.

For the money that a "Be-Cool" costs, I would be burning up the phone wires to them.

I did, they were very helpful on the phone.. I'm almost ready to go home from work and apply their suggestions.... like I said earlier, their suggestions were more like "duh" questions on my part. We'll see in an hour or so.

I would be interested in what you found. AFAIK the trans fittings never changed on these (or I haven't ever had any that did....

If you run and auxillary cooler, I recommend just putting it inline with your current cooler in the radiator.

When I talked to the person at BeCool this morning, he said a couple things. One thing he mentioned was to "tighten up the fittings" before hooking up the trans cooling lines.

OK... so I get home tonight, unhook the lines and the flared end of the cooling line should butt up against the fitting inside the radiator, right?

There's nothing for the flared end to butt up against. Just threads so the line pushes all the way into the cooler. I looked on my original radiator and the one for the sbc and they both have a seat for the flared line to butt up against to make a seal. The new radiator doesn't.

Apparently, there is an adapter of some type that screws into the radiator to allow the flared line to seal against the radiator.

Frustrating.... I guess I should stick with computers!

OK... first, let me say that I feel like I just watched one of those V8 commercials and someone just smacked me on my forehead!

Sometimes the obvious slips right by me. Here's the finished product with the fittings installed. $3.99 in parts at Advanced Auto. The copper fittings were what the radiator was missing. Summit customer support said Be Cool didn't include them because they didn't know what type of transmission I was using. My response was, no one asked me either.
