ohh '69
figured i would start up a build thread for my new toy, because it will help keep me motivated to work on it lol. not too sure on the details of it as far as year/model/etc, and didn't really care much to check just yet. plans are to get it laid out on 22's. i'm thinking of keeping it simple...chopped crossmember, build a frame from the notch back, blazer gas tank, 2 link (dundundun!), possible body drop to the pinch and that's about it. i just want a simple truck, as i plan on completely re-doing my '80 as a full on show truck. i'll let the pictures do the rest of the talking
my '80 at it's peak: ![]() the '69 when i got it home on monday: ![]() ![]() the next day i swapped the suspension from my '80 in, went from the 6 lug to 5. i also needed to get the '69 lowers out so i could work on them, since the bag plates i bought don't fit the '80 lowers: ![]() ![]() that's where it's sittings right now. i have a spare crossmember that i will begin chopping later today. here's a link to chris' (captkaos) how to on chopping the crossmember in case you're unfamiliar with what that is, http://www.captkaoscustoms.com/chopcross.html i plan to have the crossmember and lowers done this week, and that'll be it for the front, then i'll move to getting the back down |

Re: ohh '69
here's an update for all one of you watching
![]() didn't get much time to work on her, but i spent yesterday measuring the cut lines, and spent some of today cutting ![]() ![]() this would've been SO MUCH easier if i had a plasma. i just need to cut out the 1.5" section on one side, then weld it back together, which should hopefully get done tomorrow, depending on how court goes |

Re: ohh '69
and i'm back from a short awol session...unfortunately nothing much new yet, i've had a crap load of other stuff to deal with that i'd rather not get into...but i was lookin at her the other day and i started gettin an itch again. so i got to work on her today
pulled the bed off...tons of fun when you're doin it by yourself ![]() ![]() so i could access the rear frame. this weekend i'm gonna pop off all the rivets that i don't need, the mock up either a back half or notch, and incorporate the blazer tank... ![]() |

Re: ohh '69
got those annoying xmembers out of the way, so it's a lil closer to layin flat. the front is pretty close to layin, so i can't wait to get the chopped crossmember on to see if that's enough. not too shabby for 22" shoes...wish i had 20"s since it would've been easier lol
![]() tomorrow i plan on startin on the back half. i'm keepin this truck simple, so there isn't gonna be any crazy tubing done to it, just a plain back half with the blazer tank, then i'll have to figure out the comp and tanks Last edited by dubdeuce80; 12-08-2008 at 12:08 AM. |
