Lightbulb Aftermarket Headlights?

I just made my roommate a HID kit for his maxima. And was thinking of doing the same to my '69. Does anyone know of an aftermarket headlight that the backing material isnt glass or composite? Or already built such a kit and could throw some pointers my way? Its kinda tricky to explain what I'm thinking about but I had a set of some blue dot ones, and drilled out the back for the projector and it like caved in on itself and flew everywhere I need either a plastic or metal housing. Does anyone know of such a thing? thanks

Re: Aftermarket Headlights?

That would prob. be the housing I am looking for. Its actually the first ad i've seen that it actually tells you what its made of. I would almost be happy with just that kit if I already didn't have white halogens. Hopefully I don't buy these and destroy them for nothing thanks for the link Hot Rod! I appreciate it.

You can put the white halogen bulbs in this housing

Re: Aftermarket Headlights?

I'm running almost the same bulbs in my truck now. If its got a deflector in it, it usually won't fit the Philips Xenon D2R bulbs I plan on using, it might though. I'm actually looking to put the projector in the housing so I can have high/low functions.

Re: Aftermarket Headlights?

I've had a couple set of the clear lens lights using H4 bulbs and I think the last set had a plastic back that could be modified

You might check into these, it says that the reflector is plated cast aluminum and that the lights have the aiming points on them.

I don't know anything about them but they do look a bit better than the ones I have now.

Re: Aftermarket Headlights?

Those are some good looking lights. is H-4 the intensity? What kind are you running in your truck? I think mine are from Auto-Loc. They're ok, a little on the cheap side, but they have the BLUE DOT!!!!

H-4 is the bulb type...

Dunno about the quality of those lamps -- but for the same price, you could get a set of Hellas, which have a long history of excellent quality.

Re: Aftermarket Headlights?

I like the lights from borthers. Like the price too. I'll create a DIY thread on it when I finish and work out the kinks. Its either gonna be revolutionary ( ) or an expensive catastrophe. Either way, I'll be posting stuff in case someone is looking to try it too

Re: Aftermarket Headlights?

I'll post a thread when i gather all my parts together. I've got everything except the headlight housing. I've got the projectors, bulbs, igniters and so it shouldn't be long before you see something. I'm a little concerned at how its going to look but we'll cross that bridge when the time comes

Re: Aftermarket Headlights?

I like the look of them. I would like to see them at night, The price isn't bad either. I found a kit for a viper(still 7") HID, probably wouldn't take much to convert and mount in our style buckets but they are EXPEN$IVE!! If my plan goes bust I'll probably end up putting the ones you have Heavy. They look awesome
